I'm eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge

Nothing out of date left??
Had sausages and mash for tea, nice and easy.
Lynsey
lol plenty but only in condiment form unfortunately!
I fancy sausages.. think I will give in this time and buy some. Am getting fed up with all this cooking, it's creating more washing up than I can fit in the dishwasher!
I do have a tin of chestnuts, I could turn them into burgers somehow, they would go with swede mash I think..0 -
I've been mostly good this week eating meals as planned using cupboard and freezer stuff with the exception of Thursday when I was ill but back to normal now thankfully! I will be very strict with mine this week as up to my budget so will be steering clear of shops! I have UHT milk for emergencies so will open when needed. Pay day eta 10 days!
Today came off night shift so no lunch, just a home made cookie and cuppa when woke up - dinner was a mushroom and brie omelette, served with leftover cooked new potatoes and savoy cabbage (made too much last night!) and some grated carrot as finally used up the last one from a huge bag bought nearly 3 weeks ago! Pud was an aero icecream from the freezer and a couple of dried figs.I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:0 -
Evning all!
Am gonna stick like glue to this thread to try and keep me on track - have had a spendy month (or more....!)
Got a shopping delivery coming tomorrow so using up storecupboard and freezer once again!
*Have done well on the baking front this weekend. managed cupcakes, flapjacks and cookies from stocks we had in (though will need to syphon some off as have enough to feed the five thousand at the mo!). Also will use up last of the homemade soup for lunches for the next few days and lasagne using whoopsied veg and some about to go out of date milk/butter for the sauce!
*Planning on a couple of curries in the week plus a few quick/frozen meals...
*Lots of bread and cereals so breakfast all sorted
*Still a couple of tins of soup plus 4 tins of beans and one of spaghetti and 8 tins of tuna so that can all be eaten for lunch before anything else gets bought ( also have lots of eggs coming so will make into egg mayo for sandwiches!)
*will buy and do a roast nearer mid next month to use up a few last freezer bits n bobs (anyone know if freezing roast potatoes works?) Have a few yorkshire puds in there too!
Am planning on changin to Lidl/Aldi as they seem SO much cheaper than the supermarkets! Mince at lidl £1.34 on a weekend when supermarkets equivalent is £3.33 if you do the 3 for £10 deal!!! makes me angry and wonder how on earth they get away with it!! At least 50% mark up on everything in the big supermarkets , its disgusting really! So tomorrow probably the last supermarket del for a while (only as money off voucher!)
Need to be disciplined as have LOADS in!!0 -
^^ just wondering re price difference, do Lidl/Aldi source their meat from abroad??0

Evening all, hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend.
I made the mistake of going into Aldi on the way to mam's as my dad was taking something back. I ended up spending £6 on some lovely looking Italian food. Walnut pesto, spring onion tagliatelle, tomato and oregano bruschetta (gorgeous) and garlic oil.
Had a lovely roast dinner at mam's with a fruit flan from morrisons for my tea lol. My excuse is it needed using up. Tomorrow will be haggis with parsnips and carrots. Will try and make parsnip soup too.
Decided to go to mam's for pancake day so she'll have the hassle of that lol.
This week I'm buying NOTHING for main meals. NOTHING!!!!!!!! I've got bloody loads in and there's no need. I need handcuffing or something. :mad:There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

BTW, I got hubby to send a message to Lidl regarding veggie offers on their half-price weekend deals and lo-and-behold I actually had a call from them today (hubby out) and the lady thought it was a brilliant idea and would forward it to the buying department, so who knows?
May more should "pester" them??

Lip_Stick, forgot to mention, but when I make crisps (not that often), I use a cheese slicer to make the crisps.
Nice eaten whilst still hot.

Thanks, I wonder if all of it though? I noticed Morries promote the British thing but then lately more seems to come from outside the UK and Asda were importing meat from Poland (?) pre xmas to get it cheap. I'll be impressed if all is from the UK in Lidl though for those prices. I've never been in an Aldi (not one near).
Excellent customer service, personal call on a Sunday!! Thanks to Mr L too! I think the amount of veggies in the UK is so small most shops just don't bother to include in the deals.0 -

The thing is though, it's another angle for them, a new group of customers - increase there already increasing footfall. Veggie offers may also be another option to non veggies?
To be honest, I think they would have to develop their own range of veggie stuff - but who knows??
If it comes off, I'll take the credit.
How about Lynsey McCartney sausages?? :rotfl:
