Parsnip soup is nice, it can be a bit strong tasting and I normally do 2/3 parsnips to 1/3 carrots. It softens the taste and gives a nicer colour. lol
Good luck with your pc - have you been over-doing the coupons??
Lolol, no, I think it's to do with when I cleaned my comp last. I decided to take off the processor unit to clean it out. Oops. Turns out it needs a special gel to fix it back on again so on booting up it just cut off. Paid £40 for it to be fixed... for a gel that I bet cost about a tenner. Now it's cutting out mid-use and giving me an CPU overheating error, so I reckon it's due to the same thing.
I think I might pay tesco a visit tomorrow though if the comp works long enough to print more vouchers out.

Still have loads of apples, kiwis and grapes left over that are keeping well in the fridge so am now not planning to enter the supermarket again until next weekend. Freezer foods, cereal, smoothies and fruit should get me through the week no problem.
ETA: Lip_Stick - I would make baked vegetable crisps out of your parsnip (use a potato peeler), so moreish you will find they disappear fast.
Those crisps sound nice, would like to give them a try. I need a decent peeler though, the one I have takes off a very fine amount, like the skin off tomatoes. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Re all the WW/SW comments, is there a link between over-shopping and weight?!
..
Most definitely!!! It's so true also that if you go shopping when you are hungry you will buy loads more. If I am hungry when I go to the supermarket I will buy chocolate, biscuits, crisps - all things which I wouldn't buy if I was feeling full. I went to our little Tesco local before and I had only had half an egg sandwich for tea and I ended up spending £10 on pizza, crisps, half price enormous bag of peanut M&M's and I only went in for toilet roll (which I forgot!).
DD2 ate the pizza and I ate about two thirds of a bag of crisps (and it was a BIG bag) and half the bag of M&M's, which is why I am sitting up at quarter to one as I know as soon as I lie down I will get heartburncheerfulness4 wrote: »You've done marvelously well!
I remember you from some years back on the OS weightloss thread when I was losing weight with Mrs McCawber and co.
We were using the same method as you outline above and lost loads but sadly both of us plonked it back on again.
I've since read MrsM's thought about it on another forum and think we both agreed our downfall was that we weren't eating as healthily as we could, just OS, homemade things.
Think SW helps me stay on the right path with that but attempting to join the two methods together this time round.
Must get eggs. And loo rolls. And maybe lidls sausgaes cos those leeks and cider ones sound gorgeous!
That is definitely true what you say about eating healthily. At first I was super healthy but now, even though I am used to smaller portions, I have found that I will tend to go for more "snacky" food which is probably why my weight loss has stalled. I need to get making some soups again - I always lose weight eating home made soup!! I also need to use up the individually portioned healthy casseroley type meals I have in the freezer - there are about 20 of them!Jane

Once again my using up the freezer has been derailed by finding a bargain:o L*dl was selling the last of their frozen Christmas geese for £9.99 down from £17.99 so ended up giving in to temptation. I took a biggish prok joint out for tonight and the goose went striaght into the empty space:o
Still, we had HM pizza last night and I used half a jar of s*cla sun dried tomato pesto instead of tomato paste/sauce and some more of the cheap chorizo. I now just need to use the other half of the jar... any suggestions welcome.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

^^ That tomato pesto is lovely with roasted aubergine chunks and pasta with parmesan
Today:
Breakfast - the usual hm bread toasted with marmite
Lunch - will be a cold hm pasty
Afternoon snack - chocolate cake sat in fridge
Dinner - not sure yet, got a couple of options so will see how I feel later - got sick pet so had to cancel planned day out, but at least I will use up more stuff, my mate wanted to get a takeaway  That has been rearranged to next weekend now but will try and create something here rather than spending ££.
I'm getting more committed to this challenge now seeing how little I'm spending compared to last year, mainly as I'm skint and have bills to pay! but anyway going to try and last out the rest of Feb nearly all from the freezer/cupboards just buying extra veg or basic replacement storecupboard items as needed - I can barely shut the freezer door at the moment and every time I open it something falls out, my kitchen rubbish bin top is all dented from where I've not caught items in timeHave stuck a couple of treat items on the March Ocado order to look forward to, ie pesto and mozzarella. I've noticed with Ocado that if you add items to the order and don't order before the item offer finishes, they stay on the order at the cheap price anyway as long as there is stock. Then I'll just wait for a free delivery slot to appear!

Gailey, know just what you mean ref yorkies. told my ex that if he wanted them like his mum made, he would have to get her to make em. after div i didnt make for many years but saw Brian Turner and found following rec. I redice quantities for me (only need a couple) and have had sucess. I find the frozen ones - and frozen roasties - are no good at all.
Yorkshire pudding
1 large cup plain flour
pinch of salt
1 large cup eggs
1 large cup milk and water mixed
1 tbsp malt vinegar
For the Yorkshire pudding batter, sieve the flour and salt into a large bowl. Add the eggs and beat well with half the liquid until all the lumps have disappeared. Add the rest of the liquid and the vinegar, and allow to stand.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven well to 200C.0 -

I've done that too. The whoopsies are too tempting so now i send my son for the milk, fresh veg etc (he's more disciplined than me!)
My partner has his own place and has a fridge/freezer, an upright freezer and a chest freezer. Guess what i'll be doing today!! Yep, stocktaking the freezers. Already done the fridge freezer and had to chuck a fair bit out but he's got enough food left in that one for at least a week for him and his kids.
One down, 2 to go!!! Wish me luck :eek:0
