Yay, a NSD!
Decided to make my sushi with tuna and cucumber which I'm having as I type. It turned out ok considering the seaweed had a bb date of 7/11, and it was also a bit ripped at one edge. For a first attempt I did well I think. I'm not sure what ds is going to think though when he sees it in his packed lunch box.
Kirri I'll email and ask about the escalopes, and I could have done the nasi, as it's got egg in which is enough really.
Welcome to the thread kelly.
Jayne - been meaning to post this, congrats on the new job. :beer:There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Sainsbury's had the cheese, but double in price and no longer on offer.
So I'll wait until Saturday now and Lidl can have my cheese money.
Bought a couple of reduced meat items - 750g pork mince for 79p (split into 3 bags for spag bol or lasagne) and 1kg of chicken thighs for 99p (split into 2 bags) - £1.78 spent on the day.
I've taken out some chicken breast things in a leek and cheddar crust?? I'll do that with roast veg for main meal. Need to clear a little space for the weekend, probably take more bread out and a couple of ready meals need eating.
Waiting for Lidl to update my local weekend meat offer - my nights excitement.
BTW, slow cooker jacket potatoes went an orangey/tan colour?? Maybe left them in too long (10 hours!!), quite a strong taste.

Vintage, i was just going to post about the glitch, as i got some lol, freezer is now back to being full again, after all my hard work, got 8 weight watchers meals, 7 are in freezer, had 1 for dinner, ocean pie, forgot that they were tasty, will do for quick meals, so 8 meals for £4 bargain and low in calories.
Brekkie was porridge from my 32 sachet supply, doing really well and i am halfway through first pack of 16, lunch was some sausage pasta, with a portion for tomorrow, deffo need to finish it as now no space in freezer for it. Dinner was the WW meal.
Thinking of getting the big beef joint out for a roast on sat and then use some of it for a 2 veg and meat pie, that i have just watched on telly for sundays dins, just leave 1/3 of the joint going back in the slow cooker and making a gravy, so its nice and soft and then i can use the fork to shred, we shall see, need space payday is monday, even though i don't need anything! lolLose 28lb 3/28lb

Used some allotment potatoes/onions/garlic, storecupboard pine nuts and the cavolo nero I got yesterday for the pets and did the pototo cakes - not sure they were worth all the faffing about though... think I would prefer straight mash and cabbage! Finished the last 2 veggie sausages.
Need to find something else to use some more of the cavolo nero in as pets can't eat it all. Maybe shredded in a stir fry tomorrow... could use up the 2008 tinned pineapple then and some out of date cashews!0 -
This is my mission....to last till March on my freezer and cupboard. Its me and the baby most of the week, 3 evening meals and 2 lunches for my OH.
I have a full freezer and full to the brim cupboards. I've got tins and TINS AND TINS of kidney beans. But the OH hates them, how can I use them inventively? Preferably a way of him not noticing....seriously I have about 20 cans. They are never going to go at this rate. I can sneak them into chili but only if they are soft, and that doesn't seem to happen oftenMoney money money.

Morning.
Kirri, what do you do with your garlic?? Do you dry it and if so for how long??
Mine is coming along nicely.
On a "downer" because of Lidl meat offer, but another week to clear space I suppose.
Need bacon, veg etc, and I'll pick up a litre of olive oil from Lidl. No way will I hit my £25 budget this week, which is good - money for another week. The four week target was £80.............so well under that come Saturday night.............unless some silly meat offers come up (scarce though at the minute for myself).
Jam on toast soon with coffee and still some apple pie left.

Lynsey, yes, dug up around June time and just hung up and dried or kept in open boxes till it's used. So mostly all is dried, though do eat some fresh at the time (think that's quite hard to find in shops). My mum stores most of it for me as has more space but I've had it hanging from string off the kitchen cupboard handles before! I keep a few bulbs in a pot on the kitchen windowsill for use. We grow both types, some that has to be used quicker and some much longer storing garlic, should just about keep us going till the new season stuff is ready - it's only an inch or two high at the moment!! Is funny as when you grow your own you realise just how long you can store things for ie potatoes, onions, winter squash can all sit around for months but sure if someone bought them from the supermarket they probably wouldn't keep them very long!
Breakfast - 1 slice of the ciabatta loaf left so just had that. Still hungry so went to eat the last biscuit that had been in my allotment rucksack in a box for a while... and it was rancid. Only had a bite so hope I don't get ill, but at least that is one small box I have back in use now. I won't be buying any more shop biscuits or cakes in the future, will just make them from storecupboard stuff.
Lunch - got some fruit loaf on the go at the moment using a not too sweet teacake recipe. Used up the remains of 1 pot of peel (out of date just) so that's another pot out the cupboardand started using the bran, don't know why I bought that as I rarely cook with all white flour anyway... put a tablespoon in the teacakes but is going to take ages to use the whole pack which is already out of date.
Dinner - to be decided.. but something where I can use something up and clear another space would be good.0 -

That's a lot of beans!! Must ask why you bought so many?! Was it an offer? I can only think of chilli/spag bol or some type of hm burger?0
