Went to sainsburys this evening, got some good reduced bits. Chicken breasts, frying beef, pork chops, grapes and a quiche. Will cut down on my lidl shop to compensate.

    Evening all

    Welcome Skilly :)

Lynsey, that is very cheap for olive oil, must be 50% less than Morrisons offers! I can get to Lidl on foot but it's a good 45 mins walk each way with a couple of hills in the way (even in London!) so I don't get there often, but is tempting at that price.

Lipstick, I've never tried roasted garlic - is on the list for this summer now! I don't know why I've not had it before.

Had the fruit bread toasted for lunch once made, lovely..
Dinner tonight - used the cavolo nero which is already starting to go yellow (in 2 days!) so used LOTS of it shredded, frozen Quorn, storecupboard sweet chilli sauce, allotment shallots/garlic and storecupboard rice. Opened the best before 2008 pineapple, smelt ok but looked bit strange in places and I bottled it and binned it... will learn my lesson not to buy too much in advance next time.

I'm going to reduce my monthly budget down from £80 to £60 I think.
That will allow for 1 x £40 Ocado delivery and a few bits for the other 3 weeks - though I may miss the Ocado order out for Feb as I'm not running too low of many of my fave Waitrose items at the moment so I should come in even lower as I have plenty of stock in to make meals. I need to up protein and veg for meals next month, I usually eat more of both but have been a bit lacking in using up the food I've had this month.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    50p spent today. lol
2 packets of Walkers crisps from B&M for 10p each. Went to look at bird feed, but it was rubbish!!
2 bananas from Morries for 20p and my "Deal of the Day"....................Youngs fish and chips, £3 and on special half-price offer @ £1.50....................reduced to .................(drum roll)................10p, lol
They need eating tomorrow as they have a 27th date on them.

Taking brother to Lidls tomorrow, so I'll pick up some bacon and olive oil and check out the veg. Back on Saturday for some cheese and milk (proper milk).

Bought some non-budget stuff today, Persil non bio liquid (28 wash) from the Coop £3.19 and only £2.19 with £1 coupon - bought 2.
Bought 2 Comfort Pure for 23p each from Wilkinsons using 75p coupon and got 2 free Persil washing up liquids thanks to £1 Unilever coupons (Facebook VIP).
Seriously, I've got enough powder and liquid to do approx 200 washes and I'm still going to get another 2 Persils!!
Fabric conditioner, probably enough for at least 18 months and that's being conservative - quite a bit was free and the rest just pence - all down to coupons. God knows how many I've given away to MIL and son.
Stock up now while you can, pennies saved can be saved on food.

It seems easy when nothing is needed, freezer still almost full, so just pick and choose.
In Morries tonight they were reducing all the pies to 99p for a 4 pack, normally I would have taken a few packs, but loads in the freezer and I know they can be had for 49p/59p per 4 pack on a Saturday. When I'm desperate, I'll pay the 99p..............but not desperate yet.

Honestly, I can't believe how easy this year has been so far and that's all down to the camaraderie on here, the tips on here and experience learned over 6 months or so.
Supermarkets are so, so expensive if you don't play the game. Hoping this will be my cheapest food year and same for you lot.

I don't think I'll ever do a full weeks shop in one day ever again...........it's far to damn expensive and wasteful. I'm lucky in where I live, loads of choice and I can and do pick and choose - obviously not possible for everyone - I've also got the time, something not everyone has. I love playing the game, but not everyone does and would rather pay OTT for the convenience.

Be frugal and try and pay the cheapest price.

Yesterday was a NSD when it comes to groceries. Did have to spend £15 on electric though. I really need to buy skimmed milk for my cup of teas today, can't stand any other milk in it.

Breakfast has been cereal. Ds is running out of chocolate cheerios but I'm going to make sure some of the other cereal is used first before buying a new box as I've got two boxes of mini shreddies and a big box with about 50 weetabix left in it.

Dinner will be a small sandwich and for tea it's going to be caribbean chicken with rice. Looking forward to trying that.

Lynsey - completely agree with what you've put. When I was working I used to be spending in the region of £50 a week doing a weekly shop with my folks. More times than not it'd be hitting £60. This was as well as getting whoopsies on the way home from work. It wouldn't be so bad if a large portion of my fridge stuff I'd bought didn't get thrown away.

The problem I have at the moment though is the school run and passing all the low-cost shops as well as Asda. Can never resist a bargain!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Grabbing the bargains is where the savings are............getting too many bargains can be the problem. As long as they get used and not thrown away, that's OK.
Strange, but I only really accept supermarket prices as genuine WHEN they are HALF-PRICE!! Far too much manipulation. Remember the 9p'ish tins of tomatoes.............I laugh at the prices of them now..........I know they were loss-leaders, but now they are way OTT.

Toast in a minute, fish and chips for lunch and pies out for later - cheap and easy day. Just as well as I feel a bit fluey. Need to take my brother to Lidl around 10 am and I'll grab my bits.

Have fun and be frugal - use them coupons. ;)
