Sorry for being a bit dim, but what's this all about. Hubby gets the emails from Groupon, but they never seem to be useful to me!

Really cross with myself, used my £1 Phili voucher to get my free pot, and I have no idea what has happened to it. I rang the shop, didn't leave it behind, cant see that it would have fallen out of the pushchair, but I have no idea at all. What a waste.

Meant to say the other day, there's a pdf Wright's voucher over on the Coupon thread 26. You said you wanted another.

You can print as many as you like!

    Welcome Kraftykat :)

lipstick, did you do the Delia crumble with the almonds? Is my fave one.

bramble - I don't think I've ever got out of Waitrose with a spend of that little!!

No it was just a bog standard recipe but I did look at the delia one and decided to put some flaked almonds in it. Looked at it on my tablet, as I went on her site last week and I got a virus from it. Daren't go back to it on my desktop. I just think the crumble was too fine for my liking.

Ds annoyed me as he wouldn't even try it, he wanted a mars roll so I've got loads left.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Well done on the job Jane.

Hopefully you wont be having to wait indoors as you've not got your fee cheque in the post.

Hoping you can still have lots of NSDs tho.

Ah the one I used is from the Delia book, but uses whole almonds, still done in the processor but just so they are in chunks, really good texture.

Morning all. Ds is being taken to school by his dad this morning. haha. Ds is with his dad til later so today is my big clean and wash day.

Dinner will be a cuppasoup, followed by a bit of crumble. I think I might make some sushi today if I get time. It's been stuck in the cupboard for ages so need to do something with it. I'll probably just have my veggie lasanga for tea as I don't have prawns or chicken pieces to make nasi goreng.

Yeah must be the same recipe I looked at where I got the the processor idea from.

Hey you're a veggie aren't you, so hoping you might know if anywhere stocks Quorn goats cheese and cranberry escalopes? They're to die for, and I can't get them anywhere. Think they might have stopped making them. :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
I just had jam on toast, not that hungry. Hubby had the poached eggs on toast with beans.
Popped a few potatoes in the slow cooker, rubbed in olive oil and wrapped in foil - that's for tonight.
On high for 1 1/2 hours and low for the rest - see how they go.

Slow cooker used twice in a week, third time in all and after sitting in a cupboard for over a year!!
It would probably still be in the cupboard if it wasn't for you lot. lol

Off soon for lunch and to see if there's anything left in the "sales" - I've been so frugal this year and not even expecting to spend in the "sales" today. Might try the M&S clearance store though, some great offers there at times.

Great to see some of the savings being made........................hope we don't put all these supermarkets out of business!!

  • Morning everyone :D

    So far so good :T

Breakfast: cereal & juice for everyone.
Lunch: ham salad sandwiches, yoghurt & fruit.
Dinner: sausages (from freezer), white cabbage (frozen leftovers), carrots (lurking in bottom of fridge), mash (from a big bag spuds I got for £2 a few days ago) and gravy.

I've added into my mealplan what I need to defrost for the following day so that there will (hopefully) be no excuses to go off course :)
  • I was brought up by a very thrifty mum and we have always used the broke period after Christmas to turn over the stock accumulated in the freezer and cupboards. I have noticed though that when I look up receipes in old cookery books they are a lot more basic and therefore less expensive. No additions of various herbs and spices chillis and and garlic etc . I decided on a couple of things that I wanted to make but by the time I had refeshed my spices and bought things like fish sauce the humble fish cakes that I intended making and my usual chicken carcass soup would have cost me . Until recently you could go into Morrisons and buy salmon tail ends, cod cheek etc and using your old potatoes with some onion make tasty fish pie. Not any more, you buy a tray of fish pie fillings for nearly £4.00.......
