small spend this evening, £1.35 for some stuffed mushrooms (down to 95p from £2.99!) and carrots. Had the mushrooms for a starter, and carrots will turn into soup shortly. Will roast some too for our dinner.

Ended with a NSD, but had a look in Sainsbury's.

    Popped in, popped out.
    Bought nowt.

I probably could get by easily tomorrow with another NSD, got a little veg that needs using and then stock up again.
See how cold it is tomorrow, might just stay indooors. Waiting to see what kc101 updates for Lidl's weekend offers for the 28th and 29th, hoping for either chicken breasts or meatballs - fingers crossed.
Lidl have some decent veg offers on at the minute, so if it's not too cold tomorrow, that could be an option.

totally forgot to get tea or coffee yesterday, trying to work out if i have enough to last me until my lidl trip at the weekend....I think i can last until tomorrow so hopefully 1 nsd. I need to update my sigs.

Yoghurt for breakfast today, lunch is toast from a loaf of WW bread in the freezer and dinner is going to use up some pasta, bacon, leeks and garlic and herb philli.

Debating on what to get out the freezer for tomorrow's dinner, I think we'll have jackets, beans and mexican chicken. This weekend will mostly be chicken and i don't want us to get bored of it though! Might need to get something else in really...

Struggling to get motivated today, it's cold outside!!
Bacon sandwiches for breakfast and maybe get rid of some tins of soup today.
I found a packet of mixed dried beans yesterday, must have been there for ages and I would have bought for son!!
I've never cooked with dried beans before (well possibly, but would have been years ago!!), only used tinned etc. Maybe a sausage and bean casserole with tomatoes and oregano in slow cooker?? Possibly Thursday, having to jiggle a bit. Left 2 of weekends chops in fridge, so chops and roast veg. Actually might do the chops today and save the soup for another day, that'll get rid of the veg.

My tomato plants are just starting to get the first true leaves, hope they survive and don't get too leggy. Garlic is growing nicely, hardy and should survive the hard frosts.
Roll on Spring and start gardening again - hate the Winter - when it's cold anyway.

  • Having my wisdom tooth out today :( so no hard food for me today. I got two big turkey legs out of the freezer from Christmas and am boiling them for stock. I'll then make a big turkey stew out of them in the slow cooker. It should make a lot as there is a lot of meat there. Gonna have to wing it on the veg - we have no carrots but have stuff that needs using so will probably sling in onions, diced parsnip and potatoes. Will probably serve it with cabbage as I got a whoopsied cabbage for 2p in Mr T last week and it's still fine now!

Lynsey, I've still got things to dig up but it's either cold or muddy!! Have you done over wintered broad beans as well? Although I have a lot stored from there, I look forward to the first fresh food of the year.

Today, started with hot choc (I have 2 jars obviously..)

Probably have some toast before I go off and find my nearest farm shop, 2.5 miles on foot.. Nipping to Morrisons first for a few essentials, hope I don't get tempted with offers..

Probably won't be home in time for lunch!! Will take some choc with me as I have loads here.

Dinner - will get a pack of hm Moroccan stew out the freezer I think and have it with some brown basmati.

I now have one empty freezer drawer!
It will be filled later with Mr T home delivery.
I found the rack of ribs I've been after for ages in there and some stewed apple and blackberry's I'd forgotten about and enough home made lunches to last three weeks for me.
a whole drawer of bread rolls etc., I have taken out some choc chip cookies to defrost and some scones for me to eat today.
What a nice feeling, knowing what's lurking behind that door! Just got to try to work out how to get into the top drawer now which is frozen shut, but I can see mince, filled pasta and chicken in there, perhaps work on emptying the whole thing this month then giving it a good defrost, the only thing is that I can't resist a whoopsie so generally fill it as fast as i empty it:rotfl:

Never done over wintered beans, but got beans to grow soon - want the red flowers more than the beans. lol
Always look nice growing up the canes.
I think I'll start using the hot choc as well instead of coffee.

    Stop teasing. :D
    Well done though.

My dried beans have a BB date of July 2008!!!!
Would you still use them?? They are "dried salad beans"?? Look nice though, all the pretty colours, maybe just put them in a small glass vase. :rotfl:
