  • Using the slow cooker for the first time today - looking forward Venison stew.

    IN - nothing

Out - diced venison, fish pie for hubby lunch and a YS quiche for his lunch tomorrow, also the (dreaded) pasta.

Pretty pleased about the status of my freezer. I can see that more food is coming out then going in which is what I wanted.
Although, it's not a habit yet, I have seen that I am buying less at the shops which means less in my cupboards and freezer. This (of course) is helping me to use the items I have and not be so wasteful. The MEGA bonus is the cash stays in my pocket. :T

Cupboards - tinned toms, veg, stock, etc.. etc.. for the stew.

The problem with doing a big food shop is I have NO idea what to make for dinner now. It won't be freezer stuff as we have lots of fresh to use. I think maybe Fish cakes or a quorn fillet with new pots and peas (freezer!)

I will see what else we can take out for the pets to share, I have scotch pies which the dog will love.

    In - NOTHING.

Yesterday did not go as planned, I took out of freezer YS trout, and a portion of crumble and prepared the veg for last nights tea. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to do something rather important so had to go out for an hour - tea abandoned - came home with fish and chips. So yesterdays tea is now tonights tea. :)
Had a better day today. Spent my £60 voucher to get £15 off for an online shop at Mr T. I shopped through 'mysupermarket' and was really canny and managed to get just over £100 worth of stuff. Delivery was £3 but with a couple of vouchers plus the £15 off the whole shop came to an amazing £33.74p - can't grumble at that.

Much the same as my view :D

Busy day so just had a hm veg curry out the freezer tonight with rice and cheese and biscuits for lunch as well as my usual yoghurt and muesli breakfast.

Picked so much veg this week, getting nervous the first frost will hit soon which finishes off quite a lot. Picked this week, about 20 courgettes, loads of beetroot, potatoes, carrots, runner beans, sweetcorn, fennel, spicy salad leaves/spinach/lettuce, borlotti beans. Has been great not to buy any veg. Another plot holder gave me a winter squash so will turn that into a squash and chickpea curry (enough for a week).

    No freezer movements.
We had black pudding, LO roast potatoes - cut and fried, barbecue baked beans, toasted HM linseed bread, tomatoes, chestnut mushrooms and poached egg for dinner.

  • Haven't posted on here in ages! Took advantage of the 17 off online spend at mrt so now hoping not to buy anything else this month apart from milk bread and fruit . Any suggestions on what to make with quinoa ? I bought a massive bag from amazon but bored of having it plain

I use a Waitrose recipe for egg fried quinoa and bulgar - there's a pic a few pages back. I've tried lots of quinoa recipes and not liked any of them except this one!

    This is for 2 portions:
    125g quinoa/bulgar
    2 red peppers
    1 onion
    1 garlic clove
    1 carrot
    1 egg
(recipe adds in fresh basil at the end but I didn't feel it went well in this dish).

Cook the quinoa/bulgar for 12 mins and set aside.
In a frying pan add oil and fry the sliced peppers/onion
Add the garlic, grated carrot, cook 2 mins
Add the beaten egg, cook/stir for a minute or two until set
Add the cooked quinoa/bulgar back into the pan, stir, serve

We ended up with pizza out the fridge last night as neither of us could be bothered to cook, we're feeling under the weather. Also forgot about the pet's salmon, so they can have that tonight.

Nothing in the freezer yesterday! and nothing will go in today.

Dinner tonight is prawn stir fry with stuff all out the fridge.

I'm going to have to meal plan today, so the fresh stuff I bought doesn't get wasted.

    Freezer movements:-
    Out:- bread for lunch
In:- 30 sausages packed in 6's and 8 quail.

However, I think I'm slowly winning against bulging freezers. One freezer - the smallest - is completely empty and I could squash the contents of the next sized freezer into the other two but I prefer to have a bit of space so I can remember where I've put things.
