    In - nothing.
Out - pasty, 2 HM Muffins, HM All in One Cake, Bag of Self Raising Flour + YS Smoked Mackerel.
We had HM Egg/Bacon Pie + HM wedges + salad for dinner.

Can you let me know what your All in One Cake is? It sounds easy and therefore very interesting!!!

    Many thanks

Planning on making slow cooked silverside with red wine gravy, roast potatoes, yorkshires, veg followed by cranachan and then coffee with homemade tablet made from whoopsied condensed milk.

    Oh and champagne, can't wait.

I'm envious - any space for visitors lol

Made a mistake yesterday I slowcooked what I thought was a piece of gammon but it turned out to be pork. That rather makes a mess of what I had planned for the next two days. was going to do some hot water pastry ham and chicken pies. will have to rethink things. Serves me right for not labelling things

There's a saying in Galicia (Padron is a town there):
    "Os pementos de Padron,
    uns pican e outros non"
Padron peppers, some are hot and others are not

    OR

    "uns pican, outros non"

NB - The Festa do Pemento de Padron is held every year in the nearby town of Herbon, on the first Sunday in August.
    :)

I tried the same 'recipe' or method of cooking with home grown very large mildly hot peppers last night and they turned out just as tasty! Again served them with HM/HG bean burgers.

Though still want to try the Padron peppers sat in Spain in the sun, not quite the same with 'Sarf London' peppers on a miserable wet day indoors :D

I really need to make a start on sorting out the fridge and cooking/using some batches, it's got so much HG stuff in it..

Things next on the list to make:
    Courgette gram flour fritters
    Courgette & choc cake
    Salsa verde
  • Made some bread this morning, just deciding what to have it with - I do have some chocolate spread which needs using up:)
Will probably put half in the freezer, as it's quite a sizeable loaf.

Today I have defrosted one of our two freezers to put on Freecycle as it will no longer fit in our new home when we move next month. It was mostly full of bread and frozen fruit so put the bread in my parent's chest freezer and crammed the fruit into our now one freezer!

Out: rest of YS chicken from CO OP, portion of HM spag bol for tomorrows work lunch, the last of the McCains mexican wedges, bag of cauliflower (cauliflower & horseradish soup), bag of spinach (spinach, onion & garlic soup) :)

    In: nothing!

As kitchen is almost cleaned and back to normal, spreadsheet updated with a few more things I found whilst emptying cupboards, I've now started on the cooking..

Started with the salsa verde recipe, as the tomatillos had been in the fridge over a week. They don't really smell of anything? Expected them to have some sort of 'mexican food' type smell! Not tasted it yet as it's waiting to be mixed together. May just have HM bean burgers with it unless I make the courgette fritters.

I've only done half the amount so have half a lime to use in something else now..

Whilst looking up tomatillo seeds to grow next year, I found a site with more unusual things to grow - so I may try growing chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, padron peppers and tomatillos next season, no idea how successful they will be though... want to grow more whole beans too to store as dried beans - good for making bean burgers which will save me loads of money.

Kirri:- interesting, what website is that?
I will be back to growing next year, aim to grow almost all of my vegetables again, saves oogles of money in two ways. It saves on the cost of veg, plus, because I don't need to go to the supermarket as often is saves on impulse buying, so it's a win win situation.
