Started with the salsa verde recipe, as the tomatillos had been in the fridge over a week. They don't really smell of anything? Expected them to have some sort of 'mexican food' type smell!

I will be back to growing next year, aim to grow almost all of my vegetables again, saves oogles of money in two ways. It saves on the cost of veg, plus, because I don't need to go to the supermarket as often is saves on impulse buying, so it's a win win situation.
Yep does save so much money!
Next year I want to store even more for the winter.
It's the Seeds of Italy site, I've tried some of their normal seed range (get a lot for the money) and they've all been good, though expect some of the more unusual seed ranges (which are a lot more pricey too) are a bit more difficult..

Glad I had my dinner before reading that!!
I had a strange combo for dinner, mainly as I'd been cooking both dishes then got hungy so had them together with a bit of bread for ease... would normally have done more veg with this..
The salsa verde (Riverford recipe) was amazing flavour, I love it. The courgette fritters (Frugal Feeding blog) were really good, though think the recipe needs bit more seasoning added and I used quite a bit more gram flour than the recipe suggested. Will do them again.
Not sure what else to eat the salsa verde with? I only did half amount and it still made a big pyrex dishful!

Out of freezer - last night - HM Quiche + 2 slices HM cake + bag of nectarines.
In to freezer tonight - some JJ's Herby Cheese Bread + Nectarine crumble.
Out of freezer - HM BPITH + 2 HM Muffins.
For dinner we had roast sweet potatoes + chicken/mushroom pasty + roasted beetroot, pepper, red onion & tomato.
I made a Nectarine Crumble with some fruit from the freezer. Also did a JJ's Herby Cheese Bread but - Put it in the oven and saw the beaten egg in a cup on the worktop! Grabbed it out of the oven - turfed it in to a bowl - mixed in the egg + stuck it back in the oven. It was too wet - hence the shape - smells good - let you know what it tastes like.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Thanks Kirri for the link to seeds of Italy. Looks promising, I'm going to download the PDF version and have a really good study of it. I'm thinking of getting a small polytunnel to extend the seasons but need loads more research first before I take the plunge.
Freezers out:- stock and veg to help with tea last night, plum crumble made a couple of weeks ago.
In:- sliced bramley apples - loads more to do, when finished should have enough for the year. Going to raid the mint for apple and mint jelly. I have enough sugar so it shouldn't cost anything.0 -

Made bread and a courgette cake today.. not my finest specimen but the sour cream/chocolate ganache stuff was hard to work with.. it's huge! and looks rather sickly.. and it wasn't particularly cheap to make though I did have all the ingredients apart from the sour cream and it used up the last of my hazelnuts and some 2 years out of date chocolate flakes so 2 empty jars at least. Think I'd rather have just a plain sandwich sponge cake though tbh. Will taste it shortly..

Freezer movements
out:- southern fried chicken portions, peas
apple and blackberry in filo pastry, used one of the 3 portions made earlier this week.
In:- nothing
I've been making a gallon of blackcurrent wine today. I'll do another one tomorrow. Shame we have to wait a whole year before it's ready.0
