I changed my mind last night, instead of having chips from the freezer I decided to use half of the remaining potatoes and make chips. The rest have been cubed and are soaking in a pan on the cooker. I've taken some frozen pork out of the freezer, its from a shoulder and when I was making pulled pork a while ago I couldn't be bothered to finish it. I plan to put the potato, pork and bits and bobs into a pie. I've defrosted some shortcrust pastry.

I also defrosted some ox's liver. No idea why I bought it. Wonder if its too strong for the pie?

I was also very proud of myself last night because....whenever I buy pepperoni I buy it from the co op but its expensive and often the last bit gets thrown away. I went to Lidl last night and spent £4 (which is basically how much one pack costs at the co op) on garlic sausage, pepperoni, salami etc. I then froze everything in pizza size portions so that when I make pizza I can take a little bag out and walla! Don't even need much on a pizza ie maybe 3 pepperoni, 3 garlic sausage and 3 salami (which even then were huge so I chopped them in half).

This does mean that my freezer is full again :S

I am making sure we eat what was previously frozen. I'll get there slowly.

I'm still trying to eat up everything in my freezer but not getting anywhere fast.

Just taken my last portion of curry out for tomorrow's lunch. Cooking jacket potatoes today to have with cheese and salad which uses up nothing from the freezer at all. I am down to two drawers of my freezer but adding up what is in there I have at least a month's worth of main meals plus extras and I don't want to eat the same things all the time. I have chestnut burgers, nut rissoles and one large and one small nut roast. Plus quorn pieces, fillets and tofu. Quorn will be turned into more curry and tofu into thai green curry.

Often I only want to have something simple, like an omelette or cheesy mash with beans. I like fresh bread for sandwiches but I end up freezing the rest of the loaf and then turn it into breadcrumbs if there is too much to eat as toast - hence the nut roasts and rissoles.

My main purchases are bread, milk, eggs, cheese and fresh vegetables and salad.

    Update...

I have just made 36 rissoles with the final breadcrumbs in the freezer and my almonds are decreasing in the cupboard (use by date is September). I have stopped buying and eating (and freezing!) bread for now.

Also I have two portions of quorn curry in there.

The large nut roast is still in the freezer (I need the family to visit so I can use it!) along with 3 chestnut burgers, half a bag of quorn fillets and the tofu.

I have to confess that I have bought one more bag of quorn pieces as I prefer them in a curry to the fillets (must find a way of using the fillets up)

Other than that in the freezer I have some sliced peppers, mushrooms, chestnuts, peas and ginger. Oh, and some sage and onion stuffing balls. I think they may get thrown out in the end thought that will be the last resort.

^ Just cut the fillets up and use them the same way as the pieces?? I haven't bought any Quorn all year but I always bought the fillets rather than the pieces as could get them on offer and get a lot more for the money!

How did you make the rissoles? I'm not actually sure what a rissole is :o but they sound interesting!

My allotment is going crazy all of a sudden, I don't know what to eat first! Picked and eaten tonight - onions, carrots, mange tout, golden and red beetroots - all cut into chunks and griddled with a tofu burger and couscous, was very nice :D Got yet more strawberries for later.

Only food spend in my delivery this week is to replace some cupboard items - rice and pasta and some salad for the pets. Though I did pick up some yoghurts and butter earlier in the week when I was passing Waitrose, but keeping spends minimal.

Happy Birthday to MNR and WP! :bdaycake:

    Thanks Kirri.

Ran out of salad stuff, was suprised as i only bought the stuff on Monday! But I have been eating salad twiceva day, also bought blueberries and strawberry reduced to 99p each, got 3 packs of chicken fillets, cooked a pack today, enough left for lunch, loving croutons at the mo, I make them daily lol, also got 2 packs of pork in different flavours, put them in the freezer, chicken won't fit, so will be cooking another pack tomorrow.

I'm hoping the salad stuff i bought today, will at least last until Monday, I won't be eating dinner on Saturday, as I'm at wireless festival, thinking about it, I haven't eaten anything out of the freezer as yet, need to use up bread before it gets mouldy, anybody know if croutons can be frozen? Or shall I just freeze the cubed bread and defrost as and when?

Also I can't get the ice lollies out of the moulds, any advice?

The easiest way is to dip them in hot water very quickly - if you leave them too long they'll melt:rotfl:.

    I am rather annoyed.

Defrosted oxs liver last night and cooked it in slow cooler with an onion, stuffing and gravy. The idea was that it would make a cheap pie filling. However I forgot about it and now the livers a tad bit tough. The onion and gravy tastes lovely but I don't think I can rescue the liver :(

I also took out some cooked chicken for defrosting and just realised that as I am going away this weekend I won't be eating it so will have to chuck it. Gutted!

So into the freezer goes pie filling with no meat!!

Dinner tonight will be mash, sausages and gravy. Unless I cook the sausages chopthem and freeze them and then invent something to do with mash potato and chicken.

Pud we have leftover syrup sponge pudding for OH and banana cake for me.
