Dinner was FREE Fish - Huss with crisped off jacket potatoes and peas/onions. I cooked the JP when the oven was on the other day. So tonight I only had the oven on for a short while - fish - part cooked YD.

your dishes always look so yummy !! Am definitely going to give the veggie pie a go!!
I have to confess I have never made pastry!! .... maybe that's one to try out as I have loads of eggs too and would love to make quiche!
Doing quite well here ( I have set myself a new low-spend challenge till xmas!) last night was curry with ingredients I had in including sauce which had been in cupboard well over a year! May do leftovers of that tonight or an omelette and salad depending on what mood Im in. Just need milk this week and maybe some ham for sandwiches though we have eggs/cheese/tuna so could probably make do actually!
Enjoy the sunshine everyone0 -

And I think your pastry looks delicious! Thanks for that recipe.;) I've recently bought in some Trex, too, which is new to me but I've seen it mentioned often by others.Deleted_User wrote: »I have to confess I have never made pastry!! .... maybe that's one to try out as I have loads of eggs too and would love to make quiche!
pastry is easy and HM quiches are so cheap and delish. Nothing nicer than chilled leftovers after tea for lunch the next day.
Having said that, I love hearing peoples ways of making pastry. Trex, as I said is new to me, but then there's suet pastry, all butter, half lard/half marg, etc.
I'm looking for the 'perfect' pastry recipe for pies and pasties.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Particularly when made in the food processor:) Funnily enough I saw Lorraine Pascale making shortcrust pastry on one of the many many Saturday morning cookery shows

Just in case any of you haven't come across this already, a woman who lives on £10 a week for food. Lots of economic yet tasty recipe suggestions eg Brie & Bacon Risotto for 26 pence:)

Out of the freezer - French stick + a Muffin + a Malt Loaf.
In - HM Egg & Bacon Pie.
Started my last pack of Trex.
I made a double amount of short crust pastry - use the rest tomorrow. Used some to make an Egg & Bacon Pie.
For dinner we had HM wedges and baked beans with the Egg & Bacon Pie. Lots left over too.

Finished the last of the hm borlotti bean pasta sauce the other day - as I had run out of pasta I had to have it with 2 yr old frozen allotment runner beans - was ok! Added in a topping of diced red pepper and onion to liven it up.
Only got 2 hm split pea dahl meals left in the freezer now (along with various odd ingredients and frozen allotment veg/fruit). Only really buying in salad for the pets from now on as have enough growing to feed me.
Picked some of my dinner from the allotment - lots of baby golden beetroot which I griddled in garlic and thyme along with some fresh picked baby carrots. Served with potatoes from the veg box (my own are just about ready though) and a cheese omelette. Followed by lots of allotment strawberries and vegan ice cream.0
