  • Hi Florenceem, have been following your progress as mine was started New Year ish. I waited until the majority of the bathoom rebuild (downstairs bathroom & brick shed knocked into one enormous bathroom - have shower room & toilet upstairs) was finished - still waiting for doors to utility area and shower screen to go on but ah well, then started kitchen in March I did put timing on that as I moved out Mon to Fri and then just had microwave/kettle/washing m/c(moved to new bathroom) to live with for another week. But kitchen done, am still emptying boxes, have painted outside new walls and having shed made useable as need somewhere for spades/forks/stuff. Am SOOOO pleased with kitchen, one of those Neff ovens like on Baking show and at chest height - cannot do the bending. Not much room to put all the cleaning stuff tho so thats on top of washing m/c. Still we will soon be done and as I said, my thoughts are with you. I just have painting touching up to be done once doors are on. Love my tall pull out larder units - all those tins of 5 beans etc fill them up.

Thanks for the post - I was feeling really bad at not getting the kitchen up and running quicker. However I have been working hard at it. First boxes have to be located and then sorted. Then I want everything in my new kitchen to be clean so it all gets washed - lost count of how many bowls of washing up water I have run.
Having the workmen still here means constant noise and dust.
Still it will all be worth it.

    Morning all.

Had a smoothie for breakfast, I have just put a pork stew thing in the SC, diced pork Shoulder, a pack of tomato sauce found in fridge, some parsley, pepper and a red onion, all found lingering in the veg drawer, looks like there will be enough for 2 portions, I also have some leftover rice, going to pop out to get some fresh.veg to add to the.pork later, not Sure what lunch will be, maybe a cup soup and pitta.

Bit behind with posting.. been out and about a lot and also I've not really been getting anywhere with the freezer anyway as I keep buying fresh food.. did use a hm loaf and pot of hm dahl this week but that's about it from the freezer. I think I need a week with no food delivery so I'm forced to eat the hm meals out of the freezer. Trouble is I just don't like frozen food.

I may just bin the rest of the frozen veg as soon as this year's beans grow as it doesn't taste that nice in comparison..

Picking quite a bit now: asparagus, rocket, spinach, leeks, loads of different herbs and strawberries about to start. Still having the veg boxes as they are way ahead of me in the growing stakes so have been enjoying new season delivered potatoes, garlic, onions etc.

Did everyone get their free All bran? I had 4 boxes turn up and also if you go on the Golden Grahams fb page at noon on Friday the first 100 get a free box so I have some of those on the way too. Got a voucher for the free Danio yesterday though really I only eat Yeo Valley and Rachel's but will probably pick it up as it's free :D

Made a lovely tomato sauce in the slow cooker today, using freebie toms and some herbs, so easy, but it is a little thicker than I would normally have, also forgot to put spinach in.

Had a nice dinner of a burger from the freezer bunged in gf, steamed potatoes, apinach, broccoli and sweetcorn, with the tomato sauce, may use the sauce in a pasta tomorrow, still have loads of pasta left, Deffo needs using.

I really fancy some of that fancy italian ham, cheddar and some crackers, going to make that my mission tomorrow, since It's payday! :)

    Where has everyone gone?

I have still got workmen here - 7 weeks in a row now - had enough. :(
Got a chicken Kiev out of the freezer last night. I will fill the oven tonight - cook the Kiev, bake some bread, warm sausage rolls for dinner and make muffins. Some muffins will go in the freezer.
