    Hello Welsh Poppy

I will join you in this thread. Have been living out of the freezer and cupboards for a week or so now as my grocery budget is very tight.

It's amazing how much food I have in, so why I always feel the need to do a big monthly top us is beyond me, especially as there is only myself and my husband.

I am currently in the process of tidying up my kitchen and utility area trying to find a home for everything. This means my cupboards have got in a real pickle again, so when I am over my cold bug I will create a new xls listing all my products and bbe dates etc.

Well done on your weight loss:T

    Welcome Peony

Nice to see someone else here and wish you the best of luck with the challenge it is so hard to not be seduced by the supermarkets offers.
There is only my husband and myself aswell and we have halved our budget but it is hard.
the way I see it it the less money I spend the more money there is to put in our holiday tin and we are off to Ireland in september and need every penny we can save.

Good luck with the challenge and my tip is menu plan it really does help.:j

Been busy with the house renovations. Want to eat out of stocks so I have money for the work to be done. More things crop up as the work progresses - bathroom floor needed replacing and a folding door for under stairs cupboard to enable better access.
Having Cottage Pie out of the freezer tonight.

    Evening all.

Had a yogurt and a pitta for breakfast, went to waitrose and got whooosied burgers, fruit a stir fry veg thing, couple of yogurts. So had a burger chopped up, lettuce, cucumber in a pitta, dinner was chicken from the freezer in a jerk and honey marinade, rice, half a corn on cob and half a veggie stir fry.

Have enough leftovers to do me tomorrow, will make a fruit smoothie for breakfast, so bo cooking tomorrow. Yay!

Thanks Welsh Poppy. To halve your grocery budget is excellent. I hope to be able to reduce ours starting in August, I will start small at first trying to reduce it by £30 initially.

How lovely to be going to Ireland. I would really like to visit there, especially as my husband's parents were born there.

I am trying to menu plan as when I have done so it has made it much easier keeping control of budget and food stocks.

Florence, you have certainly been busy with house renovations. How lovely it will be when it is all completed.

Ms Night Ryder, you have done well with your shopping, it all sounds delicious.

Off to work on my food plan while hubby watches the apprentice.

Good recipe finder website with lots of recipe suggestions here
    http://www.foodinaminute.co.nz/
Specify the ingredients you have, in the Recipe Finder panel, for specific ideas. Suggests branded ingredients but you can replace with other brands, or HM.

Pear, Pea and Rocket Soup sounds interesting - might try that.

As does Beetroot & Tomato Curry

    And what is 'Kumara'?

    Evening all,

Welsh Poppy, Cork is where my m-i-l comes from. Hubby still has lots of cousins in ireland so I will try and persuade him to take me one year.

Florence, I think I would choose to have all the work done at once, for although it must be difficult at times when going through it all, it will be lovely when it is finished and you can sit back and enjoy it all.

Still eating out of the freezer and cupboards. Today I made yet another loaf of bread, and made toad in the hole with mashed potato using sausages from the freezer, batter mix, tinned peas and tinned pots from the cupboard.

Wishing you all a nice evening.

The mounds of boxes piled in the lounge is slowly going down. As I emptied boxes - I have done so much washing/drying up today. Then I have to find room to put it all.
Not having so much cupboard space under the sink is a headache - where do I put my rather large stash of cleaning products?
This is week 6 of the kitchen/bathroom men - was planned to be 6 weeks but now it will be 7!
