Suspended from work please help

Well right now it sounds like you are still in denial about your problem.
If it is affecting your work it IS a problem. Being suspended should be the tipping point that makes you seek help.
Some employees have told me they have self cured/ got it under control.
Mighr be wrong, but not one got mitigation on their cases, because I couldn't trust them. I have more employees to consider than just them and weighing up the risk I went for the greater good.
I would listen to me because I'm the woman that does the sacking. Really.
But if you really can fix it all yourself, go for it.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
Appreciate your harshness I will see my doctor and arrange for a referral.0

And oops - my internet connection dropped and I thought it had eaten the first "harsh post" so I had to write one again - pick whichever one works for you! provided it works to make you see sense!0

Afraid not on the first sentence.
My apologies - my OH people have suggested it is probably covered under (oh, what do we call DDA again now? Equal Rights? Is late and name escapes me) previously. Not that they ever say is or isn't, just "likely to be."
Either way, doctors support is the way to go.Debt free 4th April 2007.

Equality Act. And no "self-inflicted illness" is covered. That basically means any form of addiction. Secondary illness may be - so cancer caused by smoking, or liver failure caused by drinking, yes. But not immediate alcohol related illness or other drugs. Like I said, senisble really - otherwise half the population would claim disbaility related sickness every Monday morning!
But I agree that getting medical support to deal with addiction is the way to go whatever the outcome.0 -
When planning out my response to whatever the official allegation will be (letter not arrived yet) are there any particular do's and dont's I should be looking at, I.e the obvious tell the truth, the reasons for my actions. As was posted earlier is it right to think that excuses are a no no?
Would it be wise to mention the affect dismissal would have on the family or would this just appear to suggest guilt over being found out.
Thanks0 -
no excuses
lot of apologies
what happens to you/ your family if you are dismissed so cannot be taken into account - personally I'd leave it, my stance would be "he messed up and now he's trying to guilt me into giving him another chance?"
A straightforward "I screwed up but I'm fixing it" goes down better with me.
But then I'm plain speaking. Other opinions may vary.Debt free 4th April 2007.

Hi all I am Strongly thinking about seeking help for the alcohol, however as I have a child living with me does anyone know whether the doctors would refer to any social working types, I.e through a duty of care. I would add that I am not the sole dependant parent and although this still clearly is not good in any way shape or form.
I am also considering resigning and the union have said they will more than likely accept that however they aren't sure what the position would be in terms of a reference. Even if the reference was ok has anyone on here known of how difficult it is to get a new job when having left one for no apparent reason after so long.
Finally in terms of employment opportunities does anyone know of any particular employment types / fields that look more favourably on a potential employee having an IVA or are there certain job types where this type of chek wouldn't be made.
Thanks all0 -
I am not in HR and this will seem as harsh as some of the other comments but are you ready for another job if you were unable to cope in this one? Apologies for any offence but not for the sentiment.0

I could do my job Im good at it just had some time keeping issues which I have learnt from and would have to ensure weren't repeated. Work helps to keep my mind off things so I'd be wanting to work again as soon and it's more of a necessity aswell to support the family and maintain my iva payments. I would though be seekig help outside of work alongside working0
