I just got a delivery from Tesco Online including four packs of Fairy Non-Bio Liquitabs supposedly 20 tabs per box and stating 20 on my receipt. The actual packs only have 18 tabs in them (slick work by Fairy as the price has also gone up), I phoned Tesco Online and complained and got a £5 e-voucher.
They will change the website quickly though so order fast if you want to do the same.0 -

I lost R&R on an xbox due to an OOD SEL HO backed up the store and I gave up too easily, I think if I had kept on I would have got it.0 -
I would stand your ground. Its not your responsibility to check the date on the SEL, if it was a small SEL you can hardly read the date anyway. Plus they should be the ones going round to take away out of date SEL and put out new prices. It seems like they are always trying to get out of DTD.
The other week, I purchased an item of clothing it had one of those huge yellow stickers stating £10 - it was not stuck over the barcode and the barcode on the other side of the tag had not been crossed out. As the cashier was not even paying attention - you guessed it, scanned at original price £15. Went to CS desk, was handed back £5, I said "isn't it DTD?", the answer the asssitant gave was
"NO, this mistake was human error, they just scanned the wrong barcode"
I said " the sticker/barcode should have been crossed so scanner doesn't pick it up. Secondly the cashier should be looking at what they are scanning and thirdly isn't everything human error - wrong SEL on shelf, plus human error or not I have been queing for over 10 mins.
Still insisted it was not DTD and said I will get a manager then.
I said ok, get a manager, manager came and said ok , got DTD.
But why was there such an arguement, most people feel pressured when you are at CS - the assistant is so insistant you feel maybe you are wrong, the CS queue is building up behind you. I am not bothered and will stand my ground, but my mum would have just taken the difference.0 -
Some CS seem to want to assert their 'power' and can't follow policy without a squabble but their are some who are very nice and follow policy even without the customer having to tell them what the policy is, lol.0

This has happened to me on occasion, and I have never backed down. Their policy simply states that if you are charged more than the price displayed, you will receive double the difference back. No exceptions for human error, out of date promo prices etc. Out of date labels are extremely easy for them to check. The reason that they don't is a) they don't care, and b) promotions are often extended. How is the customer meant to know whether the promotion has been extended or not? The argument that you're meant to check the date is pathetic - the date is tiny, and you are drawn into the item by the offer price.
My advice to you when contacting head office would be to remain calm and polite, but keep asking where their policy states that dated promotions are excluded. It doesn't. It tells you as a matter of fact that you'll get double the difference back. Only once have I not managed to win over head office - writing in and reminding them of their legal obligations did the trick...
