Harold, you're right to correct the "bear" misquote but, if you're going to do so, make sure you're word-perfect yourself.
Must have been the Wolf bLass talking. Either that or this cheap Tesco keyboard...:)

Just been to Tesco - I imagine the busiest weekend of the year - certainly we had to search for a car park space at 8.00 a.m. - do they do this deliberately on busy weekends when people don't have time to check but I put through some extra points tokens and 3 items that I had bought would not go through the till so I had to go to customer services to get the additional points put on - no explanation but customer services managed to put the points on no problem even though the checkout till "won't accept them". I get home and find that 2 separate 2 for £5 offers had not been calculated at the reduced price (costing me an additional 98p on one offer and 96p on the other) and one "buy two for 99p each" had been charged without the discount thereby costing me an additional 72 pence - grand total overcharge £2.64. Now, if they did this to even half of the customers on this really busy day for most customers (the last Saturday before Christmas) then how much would they make extra and how many people would bother to go back on such a busy day even if they did notice? Well, I'm on my way back to the store now - not that I've got the time but because I'm so cross that this might be a wider problem. Does anyone know whether they still have a R&R policy?

    Thanks

R&R finished earlier this year, but you should get double the difference ie if you've been overcharged by £2.64 you should get back £5.28

Some people here are being told that the policies have changed again. When I was in Tesco earlier this morning the DTD one was still up

Just come back from the King Cross, Halifax store with 2 Butchers Choice unsmoked Wiltshire cured gammon joints where the 'free' offer doesn't work NOR does it take the SEL advertised £5 off.

Took the customer service lady to the shelf where she verified that the £5 discount was correct. I have been refunded double the difference for overcharge ie. £10.00 against each joint (bought 2).

If you're around Halifax, you may wish to know that there are 4 unsmoked joints at this store with dates 2nd Jan '08 waiting for you on a DTD basis. They are nice big juicy joints ready for Christmas with £10 off!
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

You were one of the people I was hoping to catch the attention of.

There was definately one joint over £20.

Wonder when they get more stock delivered?

I'll eat your under £20 'cast offs' then for £10.00 less!!!

    We must PM our findings?

Have a good Christmas dinner - see you with a false beard and moustache in Tesco next year!

You popped down to SB store?

  • Not heard anything about DTD being dropped, but noticed last Saturday in my Tesco (largish but not an Extra) as I was queueing for my refund on my grapes that had been scanned twice, that the big blue board behind CS had gone! So not sure what that was all about, but I just got my refund for the double-scan and got SA to add on my green points for my bags for life at the same time. Didn't mention DTD as the board wasn't there for me to refer to, and also as I've read on here before, DTD doesn't apply to operator error, just on overprices.

    Poundsinbucks x ;)

the big blue board behind CS had gone in addlestone to , it was there on monday im sure of it

Errm actually they have a legal responsibility to check every single pack, on every single shelf, to ensure that it is fit for purpose.

and as for your second point, the seller is legally responsible not the supplier, you have bought it off the shop, not the manufacturer, and again, it is up to the shop to ensure it is safe etc, before they sell it on to the consumer.

    .
Sorry but there is no way we can open all the products up to make sure there is nothing wrong with them :/
