They will accept chilled products within 30 mins of receipt time and yes at different store. Yes also to refund even if not faulty.

DTD is listed behind every customer service desk and at tillpoints

No to new receipt but often they will deface original receipt to deter any attempt at repeat refund, this is not always the case though and used to be referred to as a "Golden" in the days of r&r.

I didn't mean claiming the DTD again, I mean actually returning the product at the higher price (and getting your money back). Will they still take back a product with a defaced recipit?

Could you buy products that were more expensive at one tesco then take them to another tescos where they were cheaper and get DTD?

And last of all (honestly this time) http://www.nowpublic.com/a_tesco_manager_replies

Can they really bar you from the store and refuse a discount?

In the case of a defaced receipt you could still take it back and obtain the refund at the lower price under their own returns policy, if however the receipt has not been defaced then they are likely to offer the higher priced refund.

I would say no to this.

In respect to the last, Yes if the manager is an absolute tit, you would then of course have the option of contacting consumer direct and relating your experience and or the local media and kicking up a whole lot of shlt. I would point out many have been banned but seldom has the manager been inept enough to give the overcharge and subsequent availing of the policy as the reason, incidentally being private property they do not have to offer a reason for a ban, however if you can demonstrate that you have been banned for being overcharged you can stvff them.

    Hiya,

Last week I was lucky enough to get some of the end of stock Tesco Finest cookware which was going through the tills at less than £5 per item (inc 20% off homeware promotion) and when I was shopping last night I spotted 2 of the large stock pots (old handle style) SEL £30. I had only paid £5.24 for mine last monday. I picked them both up went to CS explained that I wanted to know the price as the SEL was for the NEW style Finest range and not for this particular OLD style Finest stockpot. The CS lady was very nice, called an assistant who said the price must be £30 as thats what the shelf said. I rummaged in my handbag(took a while :o ) but found my receipt which showed I only paid £5.24 last week and so, after a genuinely pleasant chat with the manager, I got to purchase them at that price.:T

Now before anyone says I should of bought them at £30 and then tried for DTD, they had NO barcodes or labels of any description , and the initial response from CS was that they couldnt sell them at all without a label/code. It was only because I had proof of a previous purchase that I got them. Therefore I am certain I wouldn't of been able to achieve a DTD on my stockpots.

Please don't let me put off anyone who can A) find more of this stock B) prove an overcharge, as ALL SEL show the full price for the NEW Tesco Finset cookware range.

    Hope this helps someone,

P.s the original offer was post over on HOTUKDEALS last week.

Managed to find three 'old' style stockpots in Swindon today mixed in with the 'new' style ones. Only wanted two ( one to keep & one for mum ) so pointed out bargain to passing shopper. She didn't believe me at first but there is a self scan checker nearby to confirm price - £ 5.24

Unfortunately you have been fobbed off. It does not matter whether an item is on offer or not to be an overcharge. In fact a lot of overcharges do happen when things are on offer, but don't scan at the right price. I would ring CS and get your remaining £25. Also, when managers tell you these "facts" you should ask them to show you where it states that on their policy board. If all fails, ask to ring CS from in store as this will save you having to use your own money for ringing and having to go back to the store after.

So, spill the beans. Which phone was it?!!
  • Just wondering, if it says £5 on an item, but £4 on the shelf, or vice versa, and you are charged the higher price, can you still get DTD if you are charged the price marked on the item?
  • it doesnt matter which phone it is because the checkout operative has to manually knock it of, so it depends on the person not the phone.so long as you send over £25 then the money should be knocked off the phone for you. unfortunatly it doesnt always work that way HTH

ive had a few dtd refunds on phones due to them not knocking the £25 and the second time the manager nearly didnt give me dtd as she said it was an offer.....yeh right thats not my fault! she then said if it happens again i wont give you dtd. I f i had wanted to get another phone and i got overcharged then i should be entitled to dtd. she was effectivley saying next time we will rip you off again instead of training our staff properly .

Most certainly. Bear in mind if more than one price is displayed for an item the store must sell at the lowest displayed price or withdraw from the sale, if they charge the higher price an offence has been committed, the policy is to avoid prosecution under this legislation as it is easier to bribe your customer to not report than to train your staff properly.
