Thanks. Having briefly read through a couple of pages, I never new that this DTD existed until now. I now reflect back to a couple of months ago when I was in Tesco. I bought a toy as a birthday for my son's friend as my son was invited to a birthday party. The toy had a SEL £6.99. I thought it was ok for that price as a present. When I checked the receipt it said £9.99. So I went to the Customer service desk and that I did not wanted it because I didn't realiased it was that expensive. So they just gave me back the £9.99 that I was charged for.

If only I have know about this DTD, I would have mentioned to Customer service. Then, I would have made £6.00 for the misprice.

By the way just a quick question. In the future, if I was overcharged, and I was refunded double the difference, do I still have to go ahead and buy the item or do they just double refund the difference and then not buy the product?.

Absolutely nothing stopping you change your mind and returning under their returns policy, I would however wait until they have completed the dtd refund, once done simply tell them you have changed your mind and no longer want the product, alternatively return it later or another day for a refund. The policy does not require you to pledge to keep the product.

It's a little difficult understanding what exactly you're asking from the way you've phrased the question. You must buy the product in the first instance - the sale must be complete - you can't notice an overcharge, walk up to Customer Service and say "If I were to buy this, you'd overcharge me £1, therefore please give me £2", they would just remove the offending label. Note that completing the sale is just paying for it at the till. Laugh a lot at any manager who tells you you need to "leave the shop, Sir" - I've had that line, along with a few other blatent lies.

Other than that, ben500 is right and you should be able to take the item back. It does state that the policy does not affect your statatory rights and that Tesco's own policy is a 28 day refund if not completely satisfied (for those picky people, I am aware of what statatory rights entails and getting DtD does not change that right)

As I was getting my DTD I saw a list of recent DTDs given.

1 was on wolf blass yellow label, charged £7.98, priced £6
The other on Tecknika 19" TV charged £249.** priced £225

    ALL THIS WEEK:
    - third time posted - third time SEL removed - third time wrong price put back. It's 500 gms Finest British Ground Beef steak again, SEL £2.00, pack price £2.44.
At £4/kg, it's better than the current offer for lesser quality.
Another tiddler, but it pleases me: loose garlic, sel 27p, till price 34p.
Finally, correct Mr T's fresh mussels 1/2 price offer(yellow/black large labels) - half of original price 35p per 100gms is NOT 19p.

I suppose what I am trying to say is this: If I was charge £9.99 instead of £6.99 on the SEL, then refunded double the differemce of £6, then in my calculation I would have only made a profit of £3 . However, what I wanted to know was that do I have to keep the item to profit the £3 at the time of the refund. From what you guys are saying, if I do keep the item and then return it the next day, I will then make a profit of £6.

No your profit would remain £3 the only difference being you would not have expended the £6.99 so £3 for nothing and no product but your stake money back in your pocket.
    Sel £6.99
    Buy at £9.99 = £3 overcharge
DTD = £6 refund but you still have product valued at £6.99 which you have now paid only £3.99 for
    Return product for £6.99 = profit £3

Unless of course they don't mark your receipt and when you return you get a refund of £9.99 the actual amount charged in which case you will indeed profit to the tune of £6

I think the latter would be referred to by r&r's as a golden dtd

In theory Ben, spot on. But in practice it's not gonna happen. Tried and tested in numerous stores.
Buy something for £5 get charged £10, then you get DtD of £10, in other words you get all your money back. OK
Then if you say "i've changed my mind, and have decided not to keep the product, can I have a refund, please." The answer is invariably, "but you have got the item for free, you have not paid for it, no!"
They don't seem to realise that the money they have returned to you is compensation for their mistake and your time, often more than 15 minutes, spent trying to get this compensation out of them. In their eyes they have sold it to you at £0.00.

Answer. Go back the next day and return item preferably at another store.

There's always one isn't there, someone has asked for advice, I have given it, I suggest if you have a problem with that you report the offending posts to admin and I've no doubt in due course this thread will too get shut down as did the discussion thread because of this very same attitude, how did you find out about and how to use the policy by the way? Was it from Tesco or this site? If from this site then where because in case you hadn't noticed there is no discussion thread here anymore because of people constantly whining about it. Having looked back over your previous posts they seem to consist wholly of your seeking advice from other members on how you may personally gain, yet you feel free to obstruct others from doing so.

It's little wonder long term posters are moving away from this forum in droves lately.

  • The Jean Christophe Novelli mediterrannean rigatoni is still available, I just got 10, and is scanning at 1p - its really delicious too!. Is in the frozen section, and has an sel of £2.99. There are several different types of Jean Christophe meals in the section, but the others are marked at £1.99 special offer. this one is marked on the shelf as £2.99 but definately scans at 1p.

Tesco frozen BBQ range all reduced - 12 kebab selection pack 50p, 14 chinese style ribs £1, BBQ style chicken drumsticks (approx 10 it says on bag but mine had 14 in) £1, and moroccan lamb chops (10 in the bag I bought) 50p.

Also got a huge holdall which can be carried as a holdall, has a detachable shoulder strap and is also fitted with 2 wheels to the back so it can be pulled along - Ash trolley holdall - price label says £9.96 but scans at £2.44.

Hope this is usefull to some of you out there!!!.

All these where bought at my local tesco store this lunchtime.
