Not at all dodgy.....its called the 28 day rule..totally legal and above board.

If you wish to argue its ethics...please go here

It should also NOT matter whether the receipt is marked or not

To clarify my point, I'm not suggesting that the actual act of getting a refund for r&r'd goods is dodgy in the legal sense - in my view it's potentially dodgy in the questions asked and profile raising sense.

By getting a second refund on goods nobody has lost out - you've simply converted goods to their intrinsic value in money, and Tesco have converted their money to the equivalent value in goods, which they can then resell at the same price. The only point in the whole equation where you actually gain is in the initial r&r when you get the goods free.

Having said that, and although I have had opportunities, it's not something that I have ever done because I don't r&r things that I can't make use of myself.

But as The Dude says "Each to their own". :)

little john, I,m quite sure that tesco didnt mind too much until a growing throng of people became aware of what was happening, and if the custemers who were being overcharged went straight to trading standards every time an overcharge occured, Tesco would be in much deeper doo-doo. Any one know of a spelling book misprice

Tesco only really noticed they had an issue when they screwed up with the original console cockup that was the point when everyone else stood up and took notice.

You need a spelling book? I havnt found a good one yet that can help me with my dyslexia if you find one let me know.

Thats fair enough (although i dont believe it was your question I was referring too)......and i liked your answer(I think it was yours) on EPH

but i have had possibly (well I dont want to say) but its thousands of cash from Mr T for RandRed goods taken back(a lot just exchanged)....then taken back again(with a new receipt) and converted to cash.

Now you may say you dont RandR goods you cant use....My philosophy is........everyone can use cash.....And youre doing nothing wrong....just a bit of exploitation, which i'm sure everyone will agree, Mr T is grossly addicted to.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Yup and yup..... as you say everyone can use cash - me included... and there are plenty of ways (legal) to skin the proverbial cat to leave you with the green stuff (well brown/orange/grey/purple/most colours apart from green really) - it's just another part of the fun and games ;)

I'm an R and R Virgin and have some questions...

If they are mispriced in one store does it mean that it is the same all over the country?

If I buy these items (there is no scanner in my local store) what if they go throught the correct price?

I'm desperate to give it a go.

I did see a list of stores with scanners, but can't find it now...is there one in the Chesterfield store?

    Thanks

Misprices tend to be national but some are store-specific - no hard and fast rule...best just try and see sometimes...

IF it goes through at full price then it's bad luck for you - you can still of course take it back and get a refund at least...meaning you haven;t lost anything really but you do raise your profile with CS desk

No idea about Chesterfield -just ask one of the staff next time you are in store...don't ask them with the item you are trying to R+R in your hand otherwise they may helpfully scan it for you at the tills and spot their own mistake...I usually hold up a bag of carrots or something similar and say "I want to scan these to check the price - do you have an-instore scanner"

R+Ring can on occasions appear easy but actually it is becoming trickier (Pre-Christmas loads of staff too busy to check prices but now it is quieter they are checking prices more thoroughly) don't think you'll always get something and be prepared to drive round 3 or 4 stores if you really want to be succesful...

Tesco use a central pricing system that each store updates nightly, we believe there are 3 different systems 1 for stores, another for express and another for city center metro's where they can charge a little bit more for convenience. So if a mistake is in 1 store it is likely to be in another, the only time when this is not true is with out of date SEL's (OOD) as they are dependant on the staff updating the SEL's in the store some are good others arnt s good. If you go early on the day after the offer ends then your chance should be better of finding an OOD.

If you buy stuff and there is no scanner to check then you have a few options,
    keep the item,
    return it for a refund,
ask the checkout op to cancel the item before paying,
make a run for it when you see the correct price,
have no method of payment so they cancel your shop

There is no guarantee you will find something but the more stores you hit, your chances are increased.

The scanner location thread is here you will have to search the thread for the actual list its a huge thread and the list is somewhere in the middle.

:rotfl: :T I might use the RUN FOR IT one next time I find the price is correct - I think my mobile phone which was on silent in pocket might ring and I discover my wife is going into labour - "gotta run - sorry MR.T!!!" - leaving some poor store worker to put all my goods back onto shelf...:rotfl:

I tend to just take things back - got a bloody John Legend CD yesterday - no scanner in the store and it now scans correctly so have to take that back...
