When I got some PSP games recently the check-out lad seemed to make a point of looking first at his till LCD and then at the sticker.
Thought I was about to be rumbled - then he passed the items on to me without a word.
Not sure about this one,

The instant till messages are store specific - I know of 2 local stores that have been hit hard on these and therefore are using the 'instant till message' to alert cashiers to check pre-price items and manually reduce them if needed.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

Always pick a young lad and keep them talking, they have a job to scan the items, let alone talk and check the prices at the same time. I think some don't care, they just don't want to call the supervisor so ignore the prompts. Its an idea time now for Xmas talk 'Have you been busy, did you work over Xmas, are you working over new year?'0 -

:rotfl: I admire your thinking FloFlo - Better to get a 'young lad' in trouble rather than the sargent major Tesco stawalt union weilding Blue rinse brigade member of staff eh?Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

Its not their fault if the pricing is wrong?
More chance of a battleaxe spotting a price sticker.
If you sacked every cashier who didn't check every price stickered item against its scanning price you'd have no one left.:rotfl:0 -

Diffrent stores and diffrent ways to try and combat the issue, We have personally included this in the stores T5 message telling cashiers to check pre-priced items and yes, i know 'If Tesco got their prices right in the first place there would be no need for this' but as we both know they don't get their prices right so cashiers are being asked to routinely check items. The T5 document is signed by the employee to say they have read/recieved the message and hence they are putting their name to it that the said task will be carried out.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

Very unlikely that any employee would be disciplined over this.0 -

But a 1-2-1 meeting would be held and a record of informal discussion placed on their file.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

You can actually steal from Tesco and keep your job !- not a word of a lie and a fact.
I know many people who have done things deemed as 'Gross Misconduct' and managed to keep their job but i also know of more than are no longer Employee's. For someone to be sacked Tesco have to be certain that the policy has been followed and their are no loopholes. We live in a 'no win, no fee' society now and sometimes its better to keep a thief in employement rather than compensate one £150,000 for 'unfair' dismissal.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -
Why would tesco wait till the new year to change policy? surely this is something that could be done with immediate effect.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0

For every mis-price????
I don't doubt you as I know that the till number is recorded when a refund is given but that's a lorra meetings!
It's a sad reflection on Tesco PLC that the blame is shifted onto the cashier (minimum wage Dudes working to feed their families) than the Chiefs responsible for Price Integrity!
Also interesting that Tesco have their own version of the Official Secrets Act that their people have to sign....
