    FYI

I visited my TESCOS today and they had the price still up re: 360's and £20 off when bought with a game. So I happily bought the game and console, overcharged at the till and asked for my refund. Was told that I couldnt and to basically go away.

Spoke to Head Office, who told me the sticker was wrong and should be have been removed. Oh and it was out of date so I couldnt have the deal anyway.

They also said that they were aware of this site and that anything that goes on instore is down to that store itself.

The guy I spoke to was quite rude IMO so the console is going back and I will be spending my money elsewhere as there are def. better deals out there now I have hunted around.

    Two words:

Report the store for giving misleading price indications.

I'd be interested in the answer too. The new forum is using a different version of software to the old (vBulletin, like MSE, vs phpBB) and it would be handy to know if there's a process for migration.
I run a couple of forums which I promise have nothing whatsoever to do with Tesco!
    Can I help?

PM me link if you will.

One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

I don't know if any other RnRers on here are going to follow me on this. But if Tesco's new attititude to refusing to honour their Price Promise policy, is to use the disclaimer of the sel being OOD and it becomes a nationwide/every store blanket get-out-clause, then I will report every OOD sel left on show to my TS officer. This excuse seems to be gaining momentum reading posts on here and Tesco appear happy to be using it.

  • Yes..the date is usually so small you would need a magnifying glass to read it.

And if its legal surely every shop would to able to advertise goods at a cheap price to get you through the door... but cover themselves by having an offer ends xx xx 1990 date on it??

bmumming out of date sels bought a prestige toaster and kettle
ood sel 24.99 and 34.99 charged at discounted price
i should have told them that the discounted price should have finished 2 days ago and got charged the full price
and then said you overcharged me because the sel says 24.xx and 34.xx if you get my drift

oh and beware of the two above items they scan at the lower

oh and the ipod green nanaos still have ood sels but scanning at that price
where is the consistency? are we supposed to guess now the price?
  • If the sign or SEL has an end date on it then it should be taken down by the store immediately when the offer finishes. For me the inclusion of a date is fairly meaningless - I have seen a great number of OOD signs/SELs that have been left up as the price hasn't changed.

I would argue that the sign has been left on display intentionally because the offer has been extended - otherwise why would it need to be there at all?

The fact that so many offers are extended with the signs/SELs left up leads me to the conclusion that you simply cannot rely on the dates printed on them, and thus the dates should subsequently be viewed as meaningless to the consumer.

Providing an 'end date' is no argument for due dilligence - removing the sign is.
