  • Ah but its better to undercharge than to overcharge;)Im sure customers will not mind thinking they are going to pay £30.xx for an item only to find when they get to the checkout they are charged £20.xx

It's still a criminal offence, TE, regardless of whether it results in an undercharge or an overcharge. It's still a misleading price indication.

Oh, and before you ask, I have gone to CS when I've been undercharged. They didn't seem to give a damn. Told me it's my lucky day.

It was scanning instore at the lower price according to another thread on MSE yesterday. So although it's not an R&R it's a low price.

And if any of you lot did buy it at a higher price for Christmas, now's the time to re-buy it and take back the unopened item with your original receipt (there are lots of duplicate gifts being returned this week). ;)

Applies to most items bought before xmas...not just at Tesco too, keep your eyes peeled when sales shopping and you can get most of your pressies cheaper IYSWIM.

  • You find it so misleading as you are on the lookout for an r+r, as a customer i would find it a plesant suprise to be undercharged in such a way.

Doesn't matter what the customer thinks, TE. Trading Standards would still see it for what it is - misleading. You can debate this all you want, but the one thing many people (not all, granted) want is for Tesco to charge the price they've indicated. They don't want to be undercharged or overcharged. They don't want to have to guess at the price either because the store's failed to give any indication of the cost (another criminal offence, by the way).

Have you made sure your store is trading legally (i.e. No misleading price indications and all lines displaying a price)?

Incidentally, any change Tesco makes to its policy is a clear indication of the failure on Tesco's part to keep the stores trading legally. If Tesco does change it, it will be Tesco admitting it has failed. It's got nothing to do with abuse, as there is no abuse. The policy is clear, and makes no mention of the customer having previous knowledge of the misprice. It's not the customer at fault, regardless of what you think. It's the store displaying misleading price indications.

  • I agree with previous thread - MUNT. I think there should be another forum called high moral ground to which TE and Jazzyjeff ( see Somerfield voucher thread ) should subscribe.

also a few games that I scanned (xb360) scanned a lot lower than the SEL

I noticed this too. I revisited a store yesterday evening to further investigate this phenomenon and discovered all the SELs had been updated and reflected the true scanning price - normal white SELs with no indication that they were included in any sale. All the prices match up with those on 'groceries'.

My guess is that the store you visited simply had not updated the SELs.
  • FYI

I visited my TESCOS today and they had the price still up re: 360's and £20 off when bought with a game. So I happily bought the game and console, overcharged at the till and asked for my refund. Was told that I couldnt and to basically go away.

Spoke to Head Office, who told me the sticker was wrong and should be have been removed. Oh and it was out of date so I couldnt have the deal anyway.

They also said that they were aware of this site and that anything that goes on instore is down to that store itself.

The guy I spoke to was quite rude IMO so the console is going back and I will be spending my money elsewhere as there are def. better deals out there now I have hunted around.
