Thank you for the advice yesterday on trying to get rid of Windows security virus. I eventually got rid of it Hooray.
I disabled the drivers which enabled me to install and run my malware programme. Thanks once again.0 -
I don't know the names of these viruses but he also said Microsoft Security Essentials I was running was a fake antivirus and removed it from laptop. By my own choice i purchased nortons security
The sad thing about this is that the staff of a reputable company would charge you to fix a fake antivirus program and then blame a legitimate program in order to flog you a subscription to Norton Internet Security as well.0 -
OP - I would advise you come on here in the future before going to comet. They really dont have a clue:idea:0

Could have been worse, could have gone to Currys/PCWorld.........:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -

I was not charged for the removal of the vista virus and nowhere did I suggest this. Just wanted to make that clear.0 -

I mentioned in my previous posts that my laptop was unable to access any site as the virus would block it, so could not ask for help online. But as another user who also had this virus and also used Microsoft Security Essentials, I am glad to get rid if it as it did not prevent it....tho remain cautious of it happening again!!0 -
Well shortly after I posted my laptop went mad again with the same vista security virus. As mentioned this place would have been my first port of call for help, but as I couldn't access anything on my laptop and don't have another laptop/desktop I went back to Comet today (tho late last night I managed to boot dvd in safe mode, but it still wouldn't go past the initial nortons start up and didn't scan) The man deleted another virus and installed Nortons Performance Pack, so here's hoping. I have noticed the links to malwarebytes and hijakthis (I think that's right?) on here, but am wary of using them, nortons also has malware protection and am afraid they may conflict. I'm really nervous of using the net now and of what info, if any may have been stolen.
Dont be wary, I asked for advice on here and used malwarebytes and posted a hijackthis log (a few weeks ago)and have not looked back, my old PC is still working fast.
I would advise to follow the advice on here not comet
Thabks again to those thatr helped when I posted my hijack log0
