Strange it only shows up in only one of your computers. Try using a different usb lead or different usb to plug it into.Or go into devices and have a look at your usb list to see if they are all working ok.0

Happy New Year All.
Had my player for about a year now and it's been working fine, but lately, it is not playing some avi files, and it reads "file not supported". The files work fine on my mac, but not on my player.
I've tried putting the firmware on again, but it doesnt let me, as I guess it's already using the newest system.
Anybody have any ideas? Anybody else experience similar problems?

The newer avi files may use a newer codec than the one supported by the player, not much you can do unless a new version of the firmware comes out supporting the new codec.Winnings

Thanks for the speedy reply. You may be right but it plays some files and not others, and it doesnt seem to be related to how recent the avi files are. Is there anyway you can change the codec of an avi file?0

Yes there is http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ the GSpot codec information tool, that'll tell you exactly what codec the files are using.
oops I just realised you're using a mac, I'd bet there's a mac equivalent of GSpot out there though.Winnings

I downloaded that book A Thousand Splendid Suns. It was in Adobe but if you click on save as "text" you can then copy it on the Grundig in "Text view" when you get bored with music and films you can then read a book.0

Bought a second Grundig for the wife - anyone want a spare Goodmans?
A cracking piece of kit, both upgraded to "Sorrell" now and both filled with films...“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be twenty one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.”
