Bought one of these for my boyfriend's birthday after reading this thread, got it last week and was so impressed I ordered one for me too ! We've got a matching pair now for £200! The screen is great, I've got all my Jpeg photos on it, a couple of films and tons of MP3's, still got lots of memory left too. Fantastic !
Thanks to OP!

Recording on to the unit via line in, from a dvd player and set the quality to QVGA (320x240) and the flickerless to 'auto', should produce the best quality for LCD playback with smooth video.....but has anyone noticed that the recorded video has moments where the video pauses for just a quick moment now and again (always in the same place).
It's as if the unit has a little trouble recording in real time at a constant rate.
The Archos AV400 records smooth flawless video all the time.
Could it be a firmware issue or is the processor not powerfull enough ?0 -
Just to say that i got this delivered to NI. They sent me an E-mail saying it was small enough to send and that they will be changing their courier so they can deliver to NI and the website will be updated soon. Very very pleased with this tried all functions with no problems. I like they way you can record from radio too. Very nice. I'm very impressed.0

I have had this for a few days now and I am very impressed. I take it there is not a fast forward or rewind feature. Does anybody know? But still a great bargain.0

Press and hold the joystick left or right while the video is playing and it will fast forward and rewind.0 -
WARNING: My anti-virus software just sabotaged my gadget. I got the player this morning and fully charged it. I ripped a couple of DVDs and had them on the device. I recorded from the TV and made a short movie of the cat. I was pretty happy with it apart from the twiddly joystick.
Plugging the device into an older laptop running AVG antivirus, AVG decided to pop-up telling me there was a Trojan on the device.
I've downloaded loads of windows ripping software trials and thought one of them might have been infected.
AVG "virus vault"-ed the trojan. I unplugged and hey presto.
Player no longer will play through the USB.
Reset and reformat don't work.
I'll find out about the support line tomorrow or Monday. I'll let you all know.
In the meanwhile do NOT let your AV programs delete/quarantine the SYS file.
