    We had something similar to this happen several years ago. Fortunately for us we weren't buying anywhere else at the time so didn't end up homeless, but it did take about 3 days to turn up and was extremely worrying. Our bank claimed our solicitors put the wrong account number on the remittance.

    Hopefully yours will be something similar as in not enough details on the remittance to allocate it to the right account, rather than it carrying the wrong account details and ending up in somebody elses account.

  • Just had a very upsetting phone call from our vendor.

    They were not able to move either (didn't think of that) and ranted on about suing us for all their expenses, upset and stress.

    Will be at the solicitors first thing on Monday! Need to call my boss after I'm a little less stressed to tell him I won't be in!

    Oh my, no wonder they say moving is one of the most stressful things!

    your vendor needs to sue your solicitor too not you. You haven't made the error here.

    With two weeks to go to moving day things like this scare me witless.

    Being unable to contact your solicitor after 3pm on the day that you were supposed to complete is entirely unacceptable.

    Your solicitor knew full well that you had not completed and just chose to leave you in the lurch anyway. Not a hint of an explanation, just couldn't be bothered to return your calls. I would be making a formal complaint against the solicitor for that alone even if it turns out that they were not at fault for the loss of actual monies.

    Get it all sorted out on Monday and then name and shame them on here. Appalling service on the solicitor's part. :mad:

    Gosh you poor thing, my heart goes out to you. I do sincerely hope you are able to get retribution from the people/person responsible. This is absolutely disgusting and the solicitors should be named and shamed.
    Fingers crossed for Monday, do let us know what happened.

    So did your solicitor tell you that you'd completed and then you heard from the vendor that you hadn't?

    The money should be insured by the solicitors insurance anyway, so even if they have inadvertently wired it off to Brazil it will still be covered. Not the best of weekend for you though, is it a local firm?

    You'll have to wait til Monday I'm afraid.

    So sorry you are going through this. Solicitor's fault entirely and any costs incurred through their error should absolutely be covered by them (or their insurance). Keep all receipts and make a written record of all events with times, names etc.

    It's a shame that the vendor is being nasty to you for a mistake that's entirely beyond your control.

    Before blaiming your solicitors I'd wait until Monday to find out what happened, it could easily be a bank mistake or a mistake by the Sellers Solicitors, I'm not excusing them being uncontactable, it may be that they thought you had completed on both properties, but you only have the vender and their solicitors saying the money has not been received...
