    And no, ANZ FF?
Air New Zealand Frequent Flyers club.

    Flyertalk has the info.

As you booked on-line you may get the FF miles for this trip.

Then you may be able to get a 'free' European flight.

    Just a thought.

    BTW there's a 'Thanks' Button :)

Just to say (unless things have changed recently) but if you have two tickets you can usually interline your bags to the first point you need to clear customs regardless of who you are travelling with.. execpt the lowcost carriers.

If you have a through ticket then your onward connections are the responsibility of the carrier. if not you need to talk very nicely to the people on the ticket desk as depending on their mood they can usually help....

But your bags take longer to interline through LHR then you do so you always need to check the connecting time. I have in the past made my flight but my bags followed later

    Regards

Had a phone call to say the India flight has landed but they have missed the Newcastle flight.

Virgin have taken responsibility for this, so are sorting out an overnight hotel for them and will put them on a flight up her tomorrow. Don't know any more details yet, so just waiting for a phone call to say when I have to pick them up tomorrow.
Here I go again on my own....

Becles, Heathrow is my nearest airport and I fly to and from there all the time. Taking into account the tightened security (allegedly) and the fact one has to be ad the departure gate at least 10-15 minutes in advance, I'd say your dad cannot afford the Newcastle plane to be delayed by even 5 minutes, nor any delays however minor during the transfer...:o
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

They phoned again late last night.

They'd told Virgin stewardesses on the India flight that they thought they would miss their Newcastle flight. A Virgin rep met them at the plane door and took them though the airport, where they had to wait while she organised a hotel, transport to the hotel and a Newcastle flight today.

Three hours later they finally got to a hotel and were waiting to check in when they rang me. Virgin said they couldn't have their suitcases back as they have to stay checked in, and due to hand luggage regulations, they didn't have any toiletries or anything with them. So Mam was cheesed off about that. She's got sensitive skin and is wary about using hotel supplied toiletries, but was going to risk it! They've also got no clean clothes for today, or toothbrushes, hairbrush or anything like that.

Virgin have booked them on the 16.05 flight to Newcastle this afternoon, so it means they will have to spend the day hanging round the airport. As hubby is working this evening and needs his car, I cannot collect them from the airport, so they'll have to get a taxi back now. My car is too small and I can't get suitcases in it!

Nobody told them the Newcastle flight was delayed and they haven't a clue why they couldn't have been put on it, especially as they were just hanging around waiting for Virgin to make arrangments at that point.

They are really fed up now :(

I'm going to cook a dinner and pop it up on plates ready to warm up when they come in, so at least they have a nice hot dinner to tuck into when they do get home!

I am surprised that they were even offered the hotel stay etc, as the onward flight was with BA and not Virgin......did they even realise.

Ban your dad from making travel arrangements next time....lol
