Jenjade - what a pants day. Sorry you got messed around and time wasted by a not listening midwife. Does seem to be par for the course unfortunately! Glad on the other hand that it WASNT waters broken!
Your OH needs a sharp kick into reality mode i think having had that degree of empathy!

Lovecrafting- I cant bear the idea of letting someone else wax my lady areas. I'm planning to get my epilator out. Same result, but at least i can do it in my own time and stop if its too painful! Nice hot compress to open the pores first always helps, and if i'm allowed to use it in PG, an application of optical analgesic 15 mins before helps with the ows.

Mancbird- Wooo Wooo! Wedding! How wonderful I think its a lovely idea, and TBH, having a shorter time to prepare means you focus on the really important bit- each other and why you are doing it, instead of getting distracted by all the friperies and trimmings! I did our wedding in 7 months, and i had to fight to ignore all the "oooh, you really must have/do/wear/buy/spend" that you get in mags etc

On my day, i'm quite chuffed. As well as my win on not starting my mat on a sunday yesterday, i tackled our HR team on bank holidays today (thanks WW!!). I quoted the direct.gov/employees act and E.C.J ruling on benefits whilst on maternity, and the woman said she would check and come back to me. 3 hours later, an email saying i can have all the bank holidays that occur whilst on M/L. I make that for me, an extra 4 days off!! And the two in June, will be in my post m/l but on carried over annual leave, so will be 2 less days of leave to take. Think i am going to use the extra days leave + annual leave accumulated/saved to work a 4 day week for 2 months, so i get the full pay to boost my income again, with the P/T hours!

Beanie seems however to have taken residence on my stomach. Have eaten a tiny portion of soup, a yoghurt and a few cubes of melon today. Thats it. And i feel AWFUL, like i'm stuffed after a 6 course meal. A couple of times i coughed today, not very hard, and everything came up out of my stomach back up my throat!. Yeuuch.

where is everyone getting these vouchers from, I dont have any vouchers and could do with stocking up wile they are cheap

If you join the Asda baby club, you get a coupon for a free newborn starter pack. I joined and so did my other half because he has a separate address. In the baby event they've been on offer for £3, and they have a load of coupons on the inside (£5 in the ones with £5 of coupons marked on the outside). One of these is a £2 off newborn nappies, the other is £1 off wipes. I took the coupons from the first two boxes and used them to get two more for £1 each. Today I took the £1 off wipes coupons, and got 4 free packs of wipes.

Not all doctors will do this and (nothing against you) but the NHS is already struggling for funds so I really don't mind buying a bottle of baby paracetamol myself. They are not expensive.

Lol, if I could afford medicine, I wouldn't be blagging free baby wipes! :D
  • i'm here contracting roughly every 7 mins - have been for quite a while, coping ok though, even if some of the contractions are rather fierce. TENS is sh*te and is getting in the way, but don't want to take it off just in case it is doing something :rotfl:

i'm blimmin tired after not having had much sleep. and we've not long found out that we can't have a home birth if things progress tonight as there aren't enough midwifes on call, we do, however, have a room guaranteed on the midwife led birthing unit because of this, which i'm quite happy about.

i'm back off to wait again now!

congrats to all those have mummy cuddles and huge vibes to all the boldies :D

    PMSL! I've changed it now.

What a crap day jenjade I hope you are feeling better about it all now. Hope you progress soon littleangel!
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!
  • Good luck Little Angel!

Jenjade - Fybogel is minging stuff. I got some lactulose from the doctor - it doesn't taste that great but its not heavy like fybogel. You could try eating more fibre, bran flakes for breakfast perhaps?

If anyone is stocking up on nappies, Asda have the big boxes of Huggies on 2 for £14, normally £12 a box....
  • Hope all goes well little angel

An update from me - woke up Thursday morning with a pain in my right side of bump, got worse throughout the day at work, near the end of work i was finding it hard to walk and felt like crying with the pain. Got home, thought id have a bath before ringing midwife. So, had a bath the pain was still there so rang my midwife, her phone was off so i tried all the midwife on the list i got everyones phone was off apart from one. Spoke to her she said to ring antinatel day assessment unit. Spoke to them got told to come down at 7.30. So went down, waited over 30mins to been seen, finally saw a student midwife who took temp, blood pressure wee sample all ok. She said it could be muscle as ive got quite a neat/petite bump that i may feel baby growing more, she said she would go speak to another midwife to see what they think. Roll on 1 hour 30mins later, a midwife comes back and says is it ok if we move to another room so we go to the postnatel assessment ward and got told a dr should be soon roll on another 1 hour a doctor see the lady oppisite me then we hear her pager go so we had to wait nearly two hours for the dr to come back. She said it could be my appendix but more likely to be muscle so i can go home and was given paracetomol. So we spent 6 hours 30mins in hospital about 5 hours was just waiting!

Delain just wondered who your midwife is?

(sorry its in bold - i have copyed and pasted it from somewhere else!!)
