congrats lisa, i have an underactive thyroid and i see my consultant roughly every 6 weeks and havea blood test then, my thyroid level has not changed really much so havent had to increase or decrease medication.
i wait to see consultant, have blood pressure and urine checked etc. then go into see him he checks my last results, gives me a form for a new one and thats it im outta there lol
sometimes i think its a waste of an appointment surely if it had changed they could ring me to pick up a new prescription but at least they are bothering.

what to expect when your expecting gets my vote too.x

Could it be when something has made him jump?

Congrats to Laura and Claire :) lovely to hear baby news!

This baby isn't doing so well for a name still. I like Phoebe but I'm 90% sure OH will hate it. Also she'll end up getting called beebee probably by Squeak, and most of the kids she'll meet up to she starts school, there's a girl in Twin1's class who spent most of reception year being known as 'Banana' (Alana) :o

An abbriviation of Alana is Lana . . . Spell LANA backwards and you get . . . . .

Alana Banana isnt so bad ...... LOL

    Congrats to the new mummies!!

I've been lurking here for a good while now (since before PP and Dlain had their last babies!!!!) but will hopefully be able to join you soon as I am now pregnant!!! Only 4+6 though so VERY early days.

Gilly, my baby will deffo be having a sophie Giraffe as I am giraffe mad and want one for myself lol!!!

I have a couple of questions if you ladies wouldn't mind helping me with them.

Firstly, do any of you have underactive thyroid? I have and just wondered how soon after your BFP the doc tested your thyroid function and how regularly throughout pregnancy. Also, I was tested just before I OV'd on the cycle I got PG so my doc says that as that result was ok I don't need testing again yet. Any thoughts?

Second question, can you recommend a good book to take me right through pregnancy? Its the first time for me & DH so we haven't a clue lol!!

    Thanks ladies xx

I had a partial thyroid removal in 2008. My blood is being tested every 4 weeks since BFP and I'm under the OBS Clinic and also a specialist (I see these every 4 weeks too) Bloods are done at the doctors a week before my hospital appointment. I've been told to take my meds into hospital with me as my local one wont supply but that i must have my blood tested after birth ASAP as my levothyroxine levels will need adjusting. My levels have been upped twice (First was when i was approx 2 months pregnant, then again at 4 month. I'm just on border now so it will probably be upped again) If you take too much thyroxine then it can pass through the placenta and into the baby and it can be very harmful to the baby. However - breast feeding is fine with thyroxine as it isnt a high enough doseage to harm the baby. (Sorry dont mean to frighten you!! But itis HUGELY important you get your thyroid checked regulary)

Above may not *ALL* be relevant to you as underactive and I had a thyroidectomy but the meds are the same, just different doseages

    Hi all

Congratulations all new mummy's and labour vibes to those who need them :)

Thought I would let everyone know that on the Asda site they have a Tommee Tippee electric breast pump for £30 which I think is a absolute bargain and if you order for store collection you dont have to pay a delivery charge they have put it down from £46 but I think they are normally much more than that :)

I have looked on the Tommee Tippee site and it's on there for £99 :)

I don't work for Asda I just saw a good deal and thought I would pass it on for all you money savers

I don't know about everyone else but I find being pregnan a very scary time and other people do not help one bit!!!

Making comments on size is very worrying, everyone seems to think I am small so was convinced baby was not growing :( although when. Saw the midwife at 25+1 I was measuring 26 which is reassuring!

Also I think it is very worrying about movements I started feeling the odd thing at 16w then felt my first real kick at 19w now at 25+4w I have days with lots of movement and they ar hard and then lazy days with very few small movements!

I am sure these are both common worries I just wanted to reassure myself I'm not the only person drivin themselves mad with all of this.

Don't worry Tink, i drove myself bonkers to start with. Evryone kept saying i would feel movement from 18-20 weeks, nothing until about 23 weeks i think. Then some people were saying how small my bump was for how far gone i was, even a nurse at the hospital thought i was there for my booking in appointment blood tests, ie 10 ish weeks gone, and i was 28 weeks gone:) Don't be concerned about everyone elses opinions, and my goodness they have them, if you feel well and baby is moving 10 times a day, either little or big movements, then baby is most likely fine.

    Keep smiling:)
