Mimi, PP, i hope you manage to sort out your OH's. Being PG does not seem an ideal time to have to go through horrid man stress- but i guess it is the time which will sort the real men from the boys. I hope it all comes out how you would like it too.

I'm having a mixed day/few days. I'm dead chuffed that i spoke to my departmental head today, about my M/L and finish dates, return plan etc, and he agreed to EVERYTHING i suggested, and a bit more. I proposed that i start work from home on email and dialling in for meetings from about end of 1st week of December, and just come in for important meetings, and then take the last week off as leave. He has suggested i work from home from the start of dec, and doesnt see any reason for me to have to come in at all! And that i neednt use any leave at all before my M/L. Result. That means i'll have 31 days of this years leave- nearly 6 weeks, that i can take at the end of M/l to get the money back coming in a bit sooner! Or i'll take 5 weeks of that, and keep the remaining 5 days + the 4 days accrued whilst off, to effectively do 3 or 4 day part time for the first month or so, at full pay!
    Yay!

On the downside, i feel like a total blimp. I'm a fairly large lass anyway before PG, and now at 21 weeks, and my bump just looks like fat not bumpish at all. A few people have asked me when i go off on M/L, i replied, december, and they went, " oh that long?" like i have a huge bump. Really depressing i must just look like such a bloaty heifer. In actual fact, i'm still in my same "normal" trousers and not Maternity ones, its just my tops that are maternity due to my swelling bazookas, i'm the same weight now as i was at 4 weeks, and my sister and mum who ive not seen for months, SWEAR i look thinner than i did before bean. Totally confused. And hideous. AND i have huge puffy cankles and feet from walking too much when i had to go into London yesterday by Tube.
    GAH!

    Ok., Rant over.

    hi everyone,

Can I join? I am already 24 weeks along, but I have been reading this board for a while and you all seem so lovely - such great advice!

I am due on December 1st so would love if you could add me to the EDD list - thanks!

Me and my hubby were trying for 2 years to get pregnant and I had a miscarriage so I feel so happy and lucky to be pregnant. :j

oh sorry to come and rant but i am so fed up.

work is doing my head in. As an expectant mother I have been risk assessed must not work with people with unpredictable, violent or agressive behaviour, wont be working on uneven surfaces, will have access to toliets at all times etc... anyway once a week i am working with a group of young people with unpredictable behaviour and recently displayed agressive behaviour. going to be doing this group every week. managers answer if anything kicks off walk away and lock yourself in the office... i am also lone working so who is going to explain why i have locked myself in the office and that the agressive person has to leave?
this week i need to run a group in a woods 3 fields away from the toliets from 9.30 until 3pm!! not allowed to leave them unattended so wont be able to come in for the toilets. also ground will be uneven and no where for me to sit down for the whole time with my varicous veins!

I have booked the doctors for after the group as i know i will be in a state and my legs will be at the worse hoping he will sign me off for a couple of weeks until the new member of staff starts! do you think i am being unreasonable or is work being a nightmare?

sorry for the rant just needed to vent. roll on Mat leave

    Hi Ladies,

I found out i was pregnant on Saturday. I went to see my GP today and she confirmed i will be 6 weeks tomorrow! I feel so excited i want to start planning things etc. but i feel i can't get too excited as its still early days. This will be my first baby, I had an ectopic pregnancy is Sep 09 which resulted in my left tube being removed. I am hoping to have an early pregnancy scan soon to show where baby is, i hope all is ok because i have wanted this baby for so long!

I was just wondering what everyone else did when they were this early, do you wait until you know all is ok until you make any plans?
Also how do you keep it secret from everyone, only my partner knows, but i am dying to tell close family/friends!

    Emily xx
Massive congratulations Emily, you must be over the moon, and extremely worried at the same time I'm sure. I had an ectopic pregnancy resulting in the loss of my baby and left tube in March 2010, and I was told once I was pregnant again they would give me a scan at 6 weeks to check the location of the embryo. I would get back in contact with your doctor (or your hospital's early pregnancy unit if you can self-refer)and make it clear to them that you will be needing an early scan to rule out another ectopic pregnancy. It shouldn't be a problem, with your history. Regarding telling people, I told my parents and a close colleague before my 6 week scan, then a friend. I didn't really say anything to anyone else until after the 12 week scan. Congratulations again, I really hope everything goes well for you. The odds are really on your side that this baby has made it to the right place. xx

Womble he had moved 5 crates already but I had emptied those and he said he was going and I thought he had or Id have shouted him to come move that one..

Apparently I am not safe to be left alone because I do stupid things lol... I do them when he is here too so I dont see the difference.

He came back from tesco with flowers.. and pasta in sauce.. see.. he isnt ALL bad.. just little bits..

Ooops, sorry. I must have misread :o

I would get in touch with who ever organises your shifts/ rotas etc and remind them of your risk assessment and refuse to do it. I have the same problem at work and feel like I'm constantly ringing up saying 'I've got a risk assessment that says I'm not to do that .....' but at the end of the day I don't care, mine and baby's health is more important.

    Hi Kat, and welcome :D

I finally got logged onto Mamas and Papas website after resetting my password to the one it originally was.

BTW, if anyone has a Tesco clubcard I would recommend logging into your online clubcard account. OH did this at the weekend and he had £24.50 with off clubcard vouchers there to print off, dating back 2 years. He hadn't had any emails from Tesco to say they were there.

jenjade.. it sounds like they are not taking the regulations very seriously.. you can either put up with it or be signed of or you can possibly take it higher up the management structure or to the union.
