Is anyone else really really clumsy? Pretty please don't let it just be me :o

I am stumbling about all over the place like a drunk, and I broke a cup yesterday (one of my new ones, I was quite upset!) and dropped probably 80% of the things I tried to pick up :( I have a neurologist appt in October, this is nothing like as dramatic as it was last year, but it's enough to make me feel like my body is playing tricks on me :(:(

I am dropping EVERYTHING at the moment. Annoying as i can't easily bend down to pick things up. I can't see things if they fall near my feet, and I have to bend my knees to get to the floor, then i struggle to get back up again. :rotfl:

Think the cleaning hormones are starting to kick in, as i scrubbed the kitchen floor at the weekend. Even the OH commented on our unusually tidy kitchen.
Pity he went on to say that's what it should always look like. Cue a long argument from me about my working full-time and not being his domestic skivvy. He then made the mistake of comparing my (lack of) housewife skills to those of his Mother!!! Cue an even longer lecture from me about 'modern women' who are expected to do everything. ( tho i don't and tbh, except for when i'm on mat leave, won't be trying to!) He is so old-fashioned! Tho I did remind him if he wants a housewife, he'll need to marry me :D

    Hi Ladies,

I found out i was pregnant on Saturday. I went to see my GP today and she confirmed i will be 6 weeks tomorrow! I feel so excited i want to start planning things etc. but i feel i can't get too excited as its still early days. This will be my first baby, I had an ectopic pregnancy is Sep 09 which resulted in my left tube being removed. I am hoping to have an early pregnancy scan soon to show where baby is, i hope all is ok because i have wanted this baby for so long!

I was just wondering what everyone else did when they were this early, do you wait until you know all is ok until you make any plans?
Also how do you keep it secret from everyone, only my partner knows, but i am dying to tell close family/friends!

    Congratulations Emily!

Honestly what did I do? I spent 12 weeks fretting and worrying and convincing myself something terrible was going to happen. We only told my sister and I think I spent most of my time convinced the baby wasn't going to make it into a baby. I wish I hadn't bothered with all the stress and worry because I had nothing to worry about, there is far more chance of you having a healthy baby than any other outcome.

I am not sure not planning would have made things any easier if the worst had happened in retrospect but I think only you can figure that out for yourself. All these babies (and you and me!) started as teeny little 6 week old beans, just keep trying to remember that :)

That said I quite liked having the big baby secret between just me, my husband and my sister, I felt a little sad telling people at first! :)

Hi Emily, congrats. Isn't it amazing when you find out that your pregnant!

We told our parents and our closest friends as soon as we found out, with the view that if anything bad happened, they would be the people that we would seek comfort from.
We told all our other friends, relatives, work etc after our 12 week scan the next time we saw them.
  • Pigpen - I havent seen your post about your OH but i hope everything works out x

I'm going to OH's house tonight for a chat. I doubt he will stop flirting - To be honest it never used to bother me (When i met him he worked in a lap dancing club behind the bar and it didnt bother me one bit) but i think thats because we was all loved up and went on dates etc, we dont do that now, and havent since before flumette.

He's told me he loves me and doesnt want to lose me but he cant forget all the arguments we've had. He doesnt think about all the other times when we've been happy :o

Will let you know what happens!

Did some very bad retail therapy earlier - DD got some new clothes and flumette got a vest? (Its like a sleep suit but feet have been cut out?) for bed lol couldnt stop myself!

emily i found out i was pregnant this time around from being 5-6 weeks too and was ment to be going for a MRI scan at the time but had to cancel it which led to my Oldest sister being told my appointment had been cancelled. (as thats where she works)

So she rang me up to shout at me and try to make me have another appointment then i had to tell her that i was pregnant so would have one in 9months lol :D

    her reply was

"well laura i finish my shift in 45 minutes so you best get a wriggle on to tell everyone (meaning family) before i do"

:rotfl: she is such a gobsh!t but it got it out in the open and if anything had of gone wrong which *touchs wood* so far it hasnt then they would of been there to support me.

Womble.. get the huge rolls of cotton wool it is cheaper and far better and easier to use.. I tear it into strips before I need it and the strips into 4 or 5 depending on the size of the roll. the stupid ball things and pads are neither use for ornament. For hospital I got a cotton wool pleat and each pleat I tore in half and used that... not as cheap as the roll but easier to transport! I then used the empty pleat bag to refill from the roll. And instead of the posh vaseline we got the cheapy white petroleum jelly from anywhere for a fraction of the cost.. it is exactly the same.

I never took extra anything for OH when I had any of mine.. but there is a huge tesco round the corner from the hospital OH could make it there and back in about 10 minutes probably... and the staff are usually good at providing tea/coffee and toast

Can I add lansinoh to your list and hospital bag if you are planning to bf?? and maybe a coupe of muslins they are often a bit mucusy and sticky when new and tend to sick up the mucus after a feed... and metanium for sore baby bottoms to your shopping list.. it is SO much better than sudocrem.. plus you get tiny pots of sudocrem in your bounty pack I am still using mine a year later!

Another thing i got was one of the electronic forehead/ear thermometer.. def been a god send with my lot

Thanks for that PP, some good things on there that I hadn't thought of :D

ETA:WW if you do decide to accuse the postie of stealing your breast pump, please record his reaction and put it on youtube :rotfl:

:rotfl: That had me chuckling to myself. I won't even say what OH says Postie is doing with my breast pump  According to Nuby fb page it could take 28 days to get my pump, so he has another 4 weeks grace before I unleash my wrath on him :D

WW, for your vests and sleepsuits, what size have you got? I have a few 0-3 months clothes but nothing in newborn. What do you ladies who have had kids already recommend? Will 0-3 be too big to start off with?

I've mainly got 0-3, but I bought a few cheap vests and sleep suit packs from Tesco's in Newborn size just in case.

Although aren't some things needed a bit later? I.e. Cot Bed is 2+ months in isnt it?

Yeah, but we got ours donated so it is on my list of things I have. Been checking your list and I think we're on a par.

This might sound stupid, but how do you know if they're hiccuping?
All I've felt really is a weird snakey feeling and a strange feeling like I'm being poked....

Yeah I was thinking this at the weekend, but then at 4am today whilst I was trying to lie quietly waiting for OH to wake up and hoist me out of bed I felt a few jumps in my tummy as if my whole tummy moved, and I wondered if that was baby hiccuping. I've not felt it before, like you I've had the snakey feeling and kicks and pokes.

WW your list is good. I think i may have to copy and paste if thats ok!

I'm planning on Breast feeding but i know that it may not work out so how many bottles should i get just incase it doesn't work?

Help yourself Laura, PP has had some good suggestions to add in the post below mine too.

I want to try and BF, but I've bought 8 bottles and a microwave steriliser just in case. I know they will come in handy eventually as OH will want to feed him/her so if I can express some milk I will.

We're lucky in that we have a Tommee Tippee outlet near us where everything is half price what it is in the shops, so I got my stuff there.

On their facebook page they say it can be 28 days from date of close and they haven't sent them all out yet so I'd give it a couple of weeks before emotionally scarring your postie ;)

Been debating with hubby about whether to get the isofix base for our maxi cosi cabriofix or not as it's obviously not very MSE as you don't HAVE to have it. Happened to check Amazon this morning and saw they had it for £65 so am feeling very pleased with myself!

Yeah I have just seen their fb page, postie has had a lucky escape and doesn't even know it :D Well done on your car seat base bargain!

I thought OH had gone out so was moving a huge crate of books from one end of the house to the other and almost killed myself and nearly fell down the stairs.. so I got told off.. again.. oops.. he hadnt gone! I have put 5 crates of books on the shelves and they are still not full.. Ill go find some more I think :D

I would be giving him a serious slap for not offering to move the stuff for you, sorry if I'm speaking out of turn :(

Hi Emily, and congrats to you and your little bean :D It is very nerve wracking in the beginning. It took me so long to get to the stage where I was actually pg (for numerous reasons) that I spent the first trimester worried that something was going to go wrong. Even now I still check the loo roll for blood when I wipe, and I'm 23 weeks. My sister assures me this is normal and that she did it all the way through both of her pregnancies.

Fingers crossed that you get your early scan and everything is ok. I had one at 7+4 and there wasn't much to see apart from a tiny blob and a beating heart, but it is reassuring to know baby is in the right place and is definitely there. Sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy :(

We told our closest family and friends almost immediately, the reason being that if anything went wrong we would want / need their support. I also had to tell work due to the nature of my job which entails lots of moving and handling and working with physically challenging clients. And since all those people knew we thought we might as well tell everyone else, in case something was mentioned on fb or something like that.

Well my wardrobes have been delivered and my dining room is full of boxes of bits. Hope OH and his Dad can make sense of them.

I've also wrote a rough birth plan, which I won't be able to finish until I speak to OH. I know it will all go out the window on the day, but it helps me knowing I've done it, and OH can refer to it if decisions need making. Plus due to being high risk of baby's possible hole in heart and duodenal atresia he/she might be in special care and there are specific details I wanted noted for that.

Does anyone have any views / experience on Vitamin K injection or drops? Or having the injection to speed up delivery of the placenta?

On an annoying note, Mamas and Papas have sent me an email asking me to log in and they will send me an e-voucher for £5, but it won't let me log in with the details that I ALWAYS use  I want my voucher so I can get a fiver off a hodge podge toy taggy thing that is £15.

Well that was an epic post :rotfl:
