Good morning! First day of mat leave for me too :-). I've normally been at work for an hour by now do I feel like a skiver! It feels good!!

Like you Clareloo I intend to get se baby bits washed but DH has just asked for some of his bits to be done. I've got to iron a few bits for the hosp bag and finish packing them once and for all.

Other than that, I'll probably just mooch

    Morning all!

Congratulations to all the new mummies!

I'm 29 weeks today.... not that I'm counting or anything... DH got the moses basket out of the loft yesterday and I think I went into shock at the idea that I have to produce something to put in it :o

I have read back but can't remember anything, so hope everyone had a lovely weekend and labour vibes to all the boldies and anyone else who wants them :)

you'll 'know' by 2 weeks.. it is about 85% confidence about being able to do something, like driving or riding a bike or swimming.. you canknow what to do but if you have no confidence you won't do it.. the rest is down to luck of the draw and what hideousness is thrown at you.. I had to pick the scabs off my nipples to feed DD1.. then got mastitis on top! I think it was about 8 weeks before it didn't hurt to feed her.

I have had weeks of expressing for prem babies which is a killer.. and that was nothing compared to thrush. The only thing I would get is lansinoh.

My sister was determined to bf.. absolutely no question.. then her daughter had a total tongue tie and couldn't latch at all and couldn't suck wel either as her tongue didn't move.. she came home 48 hours after an emergency section and got formula the day after. She has said she wouldn't have it in if she had another one she would do the same.. though she might stop on the way home from the hospital if the TT was as bad as DN's.

As I say I dont intend to torture myself just for the sake of BF. If I can BF then great, if not I'm not going to put myself through agony. I want to enjoy being a new mummy, not hate every minute.

Thank you for all the advice everyone :) will be having a couple of emergency supplies I think, if they dont get used then great, but it'll be peace of mind knowing they are there.

The cartons can be quite handy for that, they are certainly not the cheapest way to buy formula, but they don't take up much space.

I agree, the mini cartons are great for 'just in case' no point in buying a great big tin of formula if you intend to BF but if you want a back up then grab a couple of mini cartons, whatever you dont use can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours i think - it was 5 years ago that i was feeding DD, so its all a bit foggy ;)

Right, off to explore the woods with DD, then a picnic in the park and back home later for some trampolining - DD not me :D

Thanks all i`m thinking the two bag will be the best thing to do then my OH can just pop home and get it if needed.

I will be FF i did with DD because i wanted to and i will be with this one because of the medication i`m on, thats even more to take to the hospital, my MW has told me you get the 1st feed then you provide your own, so thats even MORE to take with me i read this thread loads and i bought them cow and gate 12 ready made bottle things already sterilised bottles, they are never instock online but they had loads instore Whoop!!!

I also have the little ready made cartons with the straws as in the hospital i`m going to they want you to provide your own milk and bottles but they WONT provide the water it you rock up with formular.

Although they will have the milton stuff to sterilise the bottles with...... erm No thanks i can imagine you sterilising a Tommee tippee bottle and getting an advent one back lol

One of there many ways of trying to push BF on you, its great if you want to/can do it but if you cant/dont want to it just seems like its going to add a bit of stress

Must ask hospital when I'm up if they provide milk and bottles....

Seeing consultant on Wednesday, which should be the 20-week big scan (though I'll be a couple of days shy of 23!), which will be exciting. Plus can ask if there's any news yet of me meeting haemophiliac doctor, I'm sick of being so tired and I can't take iron supplements until he's tested my bloods.
Do I decide birth plan etc- all the details on Wednesday? I'm going to ask, I think, as I'd like waterbirth if it is possible, but not sure who I need to discuss it with.

Lirin In my area you can only have a waterbirth if you're care is midwife led, if you are consultant led then you don't get the choice, not sure if this is the same everywhere though.

Im getting a bit annoyed with the constant texts and phonecalls now asking if I've had the baby. Apart from the fact she's not even due until Weds, it's not like it's going to be a state secret so I don't see why everyone needs to keep ringing me! Even more annoying when it's people who I haven't even spoken to for months and they now feel the need to ring me daily!

Getting bored now too, I need to have this baby just to give me something to do!!!
