you'll 'know' by 2 weeks.. it is about 85% confidence about being able to do something, like driving or riding a bike or swimming.. you canknow what to do but if you have no confidence you won't do it.. the rest is down to luck of the draw and what hideousness is thrown at you.. I had to pick the scabs off my nipples to feed DD1.. then got mastitis on top! I think it was about 8 weeks before it didn't hurt to feed her.

I have had weeks of expressing for prem babies which is a killer.. and that was nothing compared to thrush. The only thing I would get is lansinoh.

My sister was determined to bf.. absolutely no question.. then her daughter had a total tongue tie and couldn't latch at all and couldn't suck wel either as her tongue didn't move.. she came home 48 hours after an emergency section and got formula the day after. She has said she wouldn't have it in if she had another one she would do the same.. though she might stop on the way home from the hospital if the TT was as bad as DN's.

the human centipede is one of the oddest films i`ve even seen theres a number 2 out now or very soon but i think it might be banned im not sure... anyways i just wanna know if the middle gets away she should be able to. Of course whenyour a leading surgon in detaching siamese twins, the natural next step is to attach randomers to eachother

On the pregnancy front if i need a C section thing how many more baby bits do i need or should i just wing it and let my BF get them as and when needed... i dont want to look like i`m moving in or anything with a hefty suitcase.... any advice please

Oooh I heard about the sequel too. Apparently it's about someone watching the first one and 'enjoying' it rather too much, and as far as I've been told no one escapes. _pale_

My friend watches all the gory films... She's braver than me, they freak me out somewhat. I can't watch the saw films or anything really. I don't mind the more psychological ones, but recycled body functions and guts hanging out are just too much for my pathetic self :rotfl:

Oooh I think I felt the baby move today for the first time :D

  • awww anderson hes gorgeous

i saw the south park version of human centipede when OH was watching it and that was enough for me it was making me gag even OH was starting to feel sick lol so theres no way id be watching the film. i gag at the slightest thing anyway.

i had steriliser and a couple of bottles when had DS although he wouldnt touch a bottle teat anyway but i used to sterilise spoons etc when i first started weening at the time it was considered ok to give baby rice at 3mnths now they say 6mnths. iv bought one again this time as i will be trying to express so OH can feed once BF is established i also sterilise teethers etc prob not necessary but im a bit fanatical. and there looking into a prob with fidgets kidneys (lots of scans but they cant really tell till after birth) which may mean a higher risk of water infections for the first year at least so il prob sterilise things anyway.

garage conversion should be fin tomorow then hopefully we can start painting not sure how long we have to wait 3-5days for plaster but not sure when they put the last lot on. il start to feel happier once its sorted. bought light shades and all paint and ordered curtain pole and curtains and have more or less chosen carpet got to go and order it this week and im ready to call in favours from anyone who can paint lol. does anyone know if its ok to paint using gloss while preg its a medium voc but theres a couple of people said i shouldnt paint it myself.

Cheers Pigpen.... think i`ll do that this is my 2nd, with DD i was in at 2.30pm gave birth at 7.15pm but they didnt discharge me till 10am the next day my midwife told me they try and get people out around 6-8 hours for natural birth (im in north east england so could be different elsewhere)

so 2days max for a c section bl00dy hell i hope i can do natural again DD was a very easy labour although did need gas and air for the stitches _pale_ lol nothing prepares you for them

Lozzy, it depends on what hospital you go to as to how long you are kept in, i would advise you pack a back up bag with enough bits to keep you going for 3-4 days as it also depends on whether or not you have any complications after. Better to have it packed and know whats in there than rely on a tired OH to find the right things at the time xx

PP, we all know you like to be the martyr but some of us genuinely cant BF and i think its an individual decision as to whether or not to have bottles there 'just in case', if it means peace of mind for the new mum then thats great as there is enough to worry about in the first few days.

Also (although no one wants this!) if there are complications before the birth, they may want to admit you for monitoring, or to wait for an induction space.

This has happened to me twice now, last summer with Squeak I ended up going it at 37 weeks to await induction, was admitted on the Thursday, she was born on the Saturday.

Cue a mad dash to tesco on the Wednesday on the way home from consultant appointment (thankfully tesco's right by the hospital!) because I didn't have any PJ's that went over my fat self :o and to get some books and food etc, because the food in the maternity unit is nothing to write home about lol.

It's best to be prepared and have the stuff ready at home, just in case!

Congrats BCS, Pixie and Anderson - great news! Hope you are relaxing now and settling into motherhood and all went well, sorry haven't had a chance to catch up on all the news.

I have finally had some time to write up my birth story - it is a little longer than I had meant to write but there were complications.

Oh Sparkle, you did go through the mill didn't you :( :grouphug:

I'm glad you're feeling better now, and that everything is going well for the three of you :)

If it helps, the birth of my first was the most traumatic, it usually gets easier after the first time.

    Congrats BCS, Pixie and Anderson......

Quiet weekend. Painted the yard terracotta (Cue a half-terracotta Rough Collie. Lab was smart enough to stay out of the way.) Exhausted, aching everywhere, and my ankle is killing me. Still, the yard looks good.... :)

OMG Sparkle - sounds pretty hairy but just glad you and AJ have settled into things now. xx

Well first day of maternity leave for me - why am I even up??? Exciting jobs lie ahead including defrosting the freezer and washing baby clothes (if the sun decides to make an appearance).
