I don't have a base but was thinking about it. Our new old car doesn't have isofix so I'd have to get the easyfix base to use with the cabriofix but I think they are cheaper than the isofix ones. I probably won't bother to begin with though. If after a few weeks I'm sick to death of fitting the seat in the car then I'll reconsider

Is anybody getting a base for the car seat in the car? I have a maxi cosi cabriofix car seat and wasn't going to bother with a base but Im thinking it'll probably be much easier - especially as the seat is going to be used for about 9 months so that's a lot of faffing around with seatbelts!

Get the bases. They are fantastic. We used the Graco ones, as we have a Graco travel system. We got 2 as we have 2 cars, the second base was ex-display and only cost a tenner. DD was born in January and i was dammed if i was going to get soaked fitting a car seat every time i wanted to go out. It was fab: click the seat was in, click the seat was out. click the baby was in the pram.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning as i was at the dentist with a sore tooth. He didn't want to x-ray me, so he numbed my mouth, dug out a filling, realised there was no decay and filled it up again. He's probably got the wrong tooth cos he didn't x-ray. :( So my face has been numb for 4 hours now. I really want to eat but i can't feel my lip or cheek yet. Only silver lining was i got to practise my deep breathing throughout the ordeal.

Aw girls I'm still here and pregnant :) had an internal yesterday at my midwife appt because of the suspected leakage but amnisure was negative and my cervix is closed.

Baby is back to back though so hopefully I'll have enough time to turn him naturally before I go into labour.

Was in agony after she had poke about up there though, no-one has been up there for months!! :rotfl:

My next appt is on my due date so if he is not here by then I will be asking for a sweep!! It won't matter by that point as either he'll be here on his due date or overdue!

    Hello all :)

Apricot - I haven't got anything useful to say about the isofix - but i did get all stressed trying to get the car seat all in place without one the other week - so i think it might be a useful investment. I've got two carseats - one with the push chair and one given to me by a friend - the one donated i think will be the permanent fixture in the car!!! thats a bit pants about the lack of appointments...... but i wouldnt worry too much about the fundal measurements....i had one at 35wks that measured me at 38 weeks - but it wasn't my normal midwife.........sure enough when measured by my other MW i was 'normal'....still always nice to have the extra scan...although i found the scan uncomfortable, just the pressure on the belly! Still, not long to go until we get to meet the beans in person!! :)

Well it's Friday night - what to do! Glad rags on and dancing......more like a waddle to the toilet twice an hour!! I guess almost like being drunk, i'm certainly not walking like a sober person and going to the toilet like I've had a few scoops!! My hips are so sore this week! Feel like I'm 100!! I'm told thats my hips and pelvis preparing for birth, so I'll quit my moaning! On a positive, I'm 39+1 now and baby was 3/5 engaged on wednesday which I was quite glad to hear!

Sequeena - good to know that baby is all safe in there!

I'm on week two of maternity leave - i can honestly say I'm glad i didnt have any longer leave before! I would be bald by the time baby comes! I've found days to be boring, therefore I'm a miserable c0w!! My poor hubby bears the brunt of it!! oh well!!!!

Anyhoo - happy mat leave to those that are on it. Vibes to myself, Abby and Apricot (and anyone else!!)

Happy Friday to those still at work :)

Does depend what car you've got though, OH has a focus and there's no Isofix attachments in his car.

Hmm didn't think of that one - I have a 57 plate fiesta, as a newer car I would imagine there are Isofix points but on the maxi cosi website it says that they don't know. As I have no idea what an Isofix point even looks like how on earth do I check?

Thanks for the link though, handy to know that that base would be suitable for the next seat as well....

OH's dad gave us money for the baby, I have spent some but still have about £70 left so could put that towards the base - I think anything that will make life a little bit easier has got to be worth the money? Just wish I had thought of it earlier so I could have kept an eye out for special offers!

The easy car seat base (non-isofix) is £79.99 at toysrus/babiesrus and ive seen they have a 20% off event this weekend so it might come down to £64. The isofix version is 99.99. They only work for cabriofix though.

Isofix points are at the bottom of the seats (where the seat meets the back) and just inside the seatbelt points i believe. Newer cars usually have a label/tab around there that says there are isofix points. I'd guess it was probably an optional extra on 57 reg fiesta. It's much more common to come as standard on newer cars.

Ooh Im about 5 mins from Toysrus - if I go there tomorrow I wonder whether they would check for me? I don't recall seeing a label near the seatbelt points (not that I've looked though)

Somewhere in the crease between the seat and the seat back there would be some fixed metal rings like in the picture I've linked. I reckon toysrus would check for you, they're meant to be able to check the seat fits aren't they? Be sure to print the 20% voucher (I saw it on hotukdeals but it may be here on MSE somewhere)

Did you specify rent to be paid directly to LL? If not it will go to you each time until you tell HB to pay it to them, then LL needs to complete a form with their details on and be set up on your local councils system. HTH xx

No I don't want the LL to be paid, its that with Leeds City Council the FIRST payment goes via cheque to the landlord and then all subsequent payments are sent into my bank account.

So I wondered why the first payment had gone to me!
