anyway im deciding to pack hospital bags this week havent actually done it just think i should :p but im really confused about what to put in each bag iv got a labour bag a hospital bag and a baby bag the baby bag is pretty easy its the labour bag im struggling with.
do i pack towel/nightie etc for after birth in labour bag (which is going in with me) or hospital bag (which will stay in car till afterwards)
and how soon do they dress baby will i need to put first clothes nappy etc in labour bag or can they stay in baby bag (again getting left in car till afterwards) when i had DS 18yrs ago all i took was one bag with my stuff in for labour and 5 day hospital stay everything else towels all babys stuff incl nappys etc was provided. this time all they are providing is the bed:rotfl:and hopefully a midwife if im lucky. HELP !!!

I would put everything in your labour bag that you are going to need for the first few hours so clean nightdress, towels & toiletries for you. Baby's 1st outfit, vest, hat, mittens, nappies (2?) blanket - simply because after you've given birth you probably won't want hubby needing to rush off to the car to grab the other bag. When my niece was born, MW demanded a hat and nappy immediately after birth and I think my niece was dressed within about an hour or so? (they just wrapped her in a hospital blanket at first)

I've got all my stuff in the same bag as I am nowhere near organised enough to pack more than one bag without forgetting something vital! Caroline my bag is a rather large holdall with wheels - but I like to be prepared for all eventualities and OH will be carrying it anyway :D

evening all, wow the list is decreasing quickly. if i start counting from under the bold print ladies i think i', 13 or 14 !!! Wow

Although i have to say i'm very excited 5 weeks tomoz and our lil man ( or maybe not so little) will be here with us. even tho i am bricking it about the section, just because i've had 3 already doesn't for one second mean i don't freak out.

as for this pregancy tho, when i have good days it is brill, but today has been a really bad day. i woke up with awful period type pains and back ache. then the braxton hicks kicked in. but about 11 i was exhausted. spoke to midwife and explained about a loss i had and she thinks i may of had a very slight early show and i've got to keep my eye on it. but nothing more, so thats good . A/N tomoz. i generally just feel lowsy today. paracetamol and ibro tho have been taking the edge off the pain. which is fab as it our lil man 6th birthday tomoz, so getting lots of stuff ready. oh i'm so excited.

Trying not to build up a dread about who coming and feeling like i'm gonna be constantly on edge and unable to relax. which makes me sound horrible i know, but i'm just so worried i'm gonna be in tears again. however it is MY sons day and i'm just gonna be strong and ignore everything, well thats my plan anyway and i'm gonna my best to stick to it.

and then on saturday it our 9th wedding anniversary, very excited. not that we actually have anythign planned for that day. but we have a family day out planned for sunday and i'm really looking forward to surprising the kids with it, as we've told them nothing.
  • thanks all i hate not being prepared and to be honest i cant see OH wanting to leave us to go to car too soon (if at all theyll prob have to remove him from hospital by force lol) and im not sure il want him to. il put my stuff and babys stuff in labour bag for afterwards.
I've recently been looking at what to pack in my hospital bag, and I'm starting to think a hospital suitcase might be more appropriate! I never was any good at packing light!!

i have a largeish holdall for labour a trolley case for afterwards and a boots baby bag for baby stuff (nappys etc will go in case) i dont do packing light lol:rotfl:

I always, always, always take too much in my hospital bag - I don't pack light either! Because I've always had long labours we have taken spare clothes, toiletries etc for DH too and he doesn't pack light! But this time it's a c-section so at least we can leave his stuff at home and just concentrate on mine and the baby's things
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!

    labour bag had..

2 nighties, clean bra, 1 towel, socks, camera!!!!!! and a toothbrush/hairbrush, 1 outfit and blanket for the baby in a separate carrier for ease of finding.
few pairs of knix and pads.

    Hospital bag..

baby stuff.. rest of pack of nappies.. really little so a waste of time taking 'some', wipes for meconium.. vaseline also.. vaseline on.. mec. doesn't stick to skin.. comes straight off with a baby wipe.. jobs a goodun.
4 outfits and 2 muslin squares and another blanket.
for me.. more pads and pants, another bra nightie and socks.
camera and phone charger toiletries and slap bags..

I discharge myself in under 24 hours if they want me to stay... if I HAD to stay I have another bag at home ready and waiting with about 3 or 4 days worth of stuff for us both.

Car seat .. left at home until needed had a bag with coat/jacket, hat blanket for baby and an outfit for me (joggers or leggings with a tshirt and jumper and coat depending on weather socks and shoes!!) I did once come home in bare feet as I had forgotten my shoes!!!!!

I have managed to control the crying, but it won't take much to set me off.. I am absolutely thoroughly miserable though and will be having a crappy week and weekend knowing me.. MW said she would come back Monday.. I am going to ring tomorrow and cancel... I can't cope with her coming.. I feel I might have a total breakdown if confronted again and I can't risk that and I can't cope the week with the threat of a visit looming over me.

You lot have got me all panicky about hosp bags! It didn't occur to me to pack different bags! OMG I feel totally freaked by it all. If anyone is a list freak and decides to do separate lists for what goes in which bag PLEASE post it! I don't seem to be able to focus on anything properly.

5 weeks and counting - again, FREAKED out!

    Hi everyone :)

Sorry for my lack of posts but I have been in hospital all this time, they werent going to let me home today but I told them I going.

Im pleased to report that baby Miles was born on 8th July at 6:05am, weighing 6lbs8oz. He was delivered by emergency caesarean as it was discovered on examination that he was coming feet first. Wasnt a nice experience obviously but he is here and fine. I would probably have ended up having him with just gas and air if they hadnt rushed me through to theatre, and by the way.. gas and air.. it is carp lol.

Have been kept in hospital due to breastfeeding problems. He gets himself very worked up and angry over latching on and I havent been able to get him latched without help (apart from once) they wanted me to carry on trying with their help but it was difficult seeing him in such a state over it. Im going to continue expressing as I have a good amount of milk going and will bottle feed it to him. Not as convenient but its still my milk he is getting so I dont consider it a failure.

Will have a read back when I get time and see who else has had babies. Good luck to those that are still waiting for the big day :D

i've not even considered my hospital bag. hubby mentioned it the other day and i thoguth well maybe i should. and thats where the thoguth ended, lol.

with my first they wanted to admit me there and then as my blood pressure was high ( day before her due date) and i said you can't . a) i wanna go home for my lunch and b) i need to pack a bag, lol they gave me an hour. so kind.

with my second i din't want to pack a bag too early as i didn't want to jinx natural labour starting. well labour never started and i packed the morning i went to hospital for my section.

with my 3rd again i pack at last minute. i did pack night before tho this time, as i had to be at hospital by something silly like 7 am !!
