Don't drink too much it can cause fluid build up on the kidneys and make things ten times worse.. you should just drink normally.. I get terrible kidney problems so have experienced this a lot!
Did they send a urine sample to make sure it will actually be fixed by the AB's you have been given? I had ecoli infection and the AB's I was given were not effective and I ended up a right old mess..
Potassium citrate isn't a household item usually.. OTC cheap as anything and works really quickly if it is going to. def. eases badder irritation though.
Hi PP, I am drinking just enough I think - a combination of cranberry juice and glasses of water too.
They did it all on the phone, as I had alreasy been uncomfortable for 24 hours and couldn't get to the hospital that night, so she said it was risky leaving it any longer and prob best to start the Amoxycillin that day.
So can I get potassium citrate at chemists?
Still around 3 trips to the loo per hour, aargh...:):)

welcome tinytink
i seem to be the only one who hasn't had comments on their size or the sex - but then we don't know what it is and even if we did we wouldn't saythe only comments i've had about my size came from my mum, who told me how big she thought my bum had got, she did this several times infact, but then i expect that sort of thing from her, she can't be nice you see
i'm currently waiting for our crib and mattress to arrive, i'm really excited and i'm dying to put it up :j
also waiting for mr plumber man to come as we have no hot water, grr.
anyone else finding themselves getting increasingly emotional? i started crying in the middle of a shopping centre the other week after i'd seen a fairly small baby, not entirely sure why i was actually crying though0 -
Little Angel I can empathise, was v tearful last night like Apricot was, as I watched Marley & Me too, big mistake... then today feel down and tearful because I am so fed up with this bladder infection, must be cystitis...
Plus haven't felt baby move much so am now getting paranoid.
PP is there anything else I can do physically to ease the symptoms? The doc said empty bladder regularly, plus I have a hot water bottle in bed with me now, lying down as that way am closer to the loo, just keep needing to go...:):)

Well I want a kitten!!!!!!!!!!
Lol - before we found out this one was a girl and people would ask what we were hoping for I used to say 'We're hoping it's a pony but it's probably going to be a baby!'.
sparkle76 - depending on how you feel about it paracetamol may take the edge off a bit, lemon barley can help too if you get sick of the cranberry. Antibiotics do generally work within a day or two for cystitis if they're going to so if you feel any worse then go and see your doctor, they should really have taken a sample from you either way to test it! Hope you feel better soon!
Karen - your little one is gorgeous! The giraffe picture is great as are the ones with his sister!0 -
Cystitis is the devil, I was forever getting it in my old job because I had to have a key holder let me out of the prison cell I worked in, and they'd frequently forget or take an hour to come let me out when I needed the toilet. I feel for your Sparkle. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Paracetamol..
not emptying the bladder regularly.. it is the irritation making you feel the urge to pee but peeing little and often means the bugs get more time to breed without urine in there killing them. The bugs want you to go more because the urine has the white blood cells in which kill them.
If it really hurts to pee.. a jug of water poured over your foof or (gross I know).. peeing in a bath of water helps.
Not lemon barley.. just barley water is ok but lemon!!! Last thing you need is citrus irritation.. lemon barley sets me off if I didn't already have a problem!
I am very very slowly getting a tiny bit concerned as my kidneys appear to be reducing their work.. I manage a small amount of urine and that is it.. but I drink loads and loads... and it isn't all coming out.. this isn't good... It isn't infection yet, probably just fluid on the kidneys as usual and i has started up much earlier than it did last time.. I am also pretty lacking in something as I keep getting infected cuts and scratches which won't heal.. I am not best impressed.
Anway.. back to my vacuuming... I hate vacuuming it kills my pelvis... but... needs must!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Lemon barley sets you off? I was recommended it quite a lot by different people but then I have a bladder condition that makes me feel like I have cystitis all the time anyway so I probably wouldn't notice if it bothered me!
Oh and sparkle76 try and avoid tea and coffee if you're not already
PP - you need one of those robotic hoover things - I so wish I had the money for one!0
