Financial Institution Is Destroying Me

Where are you wages being paid to Simon? If its still your barclays account they will take the lot.
I am really concerned that you are not actually preventing yourself from getting into more trouble. You say that you have your pre-paid card so you can start shopping online again yet you think that £10 is all you can afford to pay Barclays. You need to do an SOA so you can see what you outgoings are and what you can actually afford to spend.0 -
Hi ,
My wages are being paid into the HSBC account I opened. I say £10 because i also have :
Council Tax Arrears
Rent
Electricity & Gas Arrears
TV liscence Fees
Staples Arrears
I didn't mean literally start spending its just easier for me to do my food shopping online and the prepay mastercard helps also general shopping for things is cheaper online but I am very much aware that I need to clean my credit which I am doing slowly , i just can't give Barclays £1000 that I owe them mostly in charges they have imposed on me just like that because i won't be able to pay rent etc and they do not care as they put it they just want their money back. I'm on my way now to citi bank to have my passport certified again , they were not happy with the last certification they did. Today I paid my TV Bill & Work Expenses as well as topped up my prepay mastercard with £6.
I appreciate all the guidance and advice please keep it comming.0 -
Have you written to Barclays acknowledging their letter? You should do that first and state that you are seeking financial advice or something similar and that you will be in contact with them shortly to aim to rectify the situation or something similar. Then go and see the Citizens Advice Bureau or the CCCS. I can't believe citibank are still messing you around 3 months on. I would give up on them, at least you have the HSBC account. Have you done a detailed breakdown of your incomings and outgoings? Can you afford to pay back everyone you owe? If not then you will just continue to get into more debt and make things worse, hence you need to get onto CAB or CCCS or the experienced people on here to work out what you can do.
And then you need to claim back all your bank charges as a priority.0 -
Try the Post Office savings account or the NS&I savings account for the time being and you can get your pay credited. Frankly you're better off without a current account, they can be a nuisance and create more problems than they solve0

Yes i did write to acknowledge barclays letter and they responded with a letter saying that i should no longer contact my branch manager as he has handed over my account to their debt collection agency.I work 6am to 6pm or later so i can't go to cab. I did go to citi today and they said they want another certification of my passport.Yes i can afford to pay back everyone over time as only barclays are adding interest charges and the ammount i owe goes down every month over all its just going to take me 9 months or more.I will read on bank charge reclamation tonight and hopefully send my letter off to them tomorrow.0 -
I got rejected for a bank account by Citi Bank
, at least i have my prepaid mastercard and an account for my salary to go into. Thank you to the people who recommended citi bank , they said they will state why they rejected my application in their letter. I assume it is because of the incorrect information on my credit file which i maybe able to contest when callcredit decides to ammend my credit file! 0 -
I am going to apply for an easycash halifax account as i am being charged £5 extra because i can't do direct debits from my hsbc account - the struggle continues.0

simon have you now applied to open a basic bank account as previously advised? to be brutally honest with you, it does not sound as if you've had your lightbulb moment and it does not sound as if you are really resolving things in the best way. i am sorry is this is unfair but that is how your posts have come across.
i strongly recommend that you do open a basic bank account as advised. this will allow you to set up your direct debits, and the lack of debit card will not be a problem as you now have the prepaid credit card. also, CAB usually open later in the evening for ppl who work full time. if i were in your shoes, i would seriously consider contacting them, or perhaps CCCS or payplan.
an absolute priority for you MUST be to reclaim your bank charges - this will make a huge difference when you are successful.
finally, could i suggest you post a full SOA so we can see if we can help you further?carve your name in red. the silver slipping and slicing. rose petals blossom and fall. soul steals away.0 -
I have just read this whole thread, I'm sure the people who have advised you in the past feel like banging their heads against the wall, if you had follwed the advice. you would have had all this sorted by Christmas!!!!!!
Sorry to sound horrible but you need a boot up the backside!
It takes 5 mins to download the template for bank charges, DO IT NOW!!!Why didn't someone kick me up the backside earlier:mad:
