Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All
Rare occasion for me to start the thread these days, but shoulder affecting my sleep, and pains me not when up browsing;) Will sit in a chair with my feet up shortly and see if I can have another nap.
Today we will finish the unpacking and finding a home for everything, and and a visit to Consum (Spanish version of the Co-op) for bits we didn't find at Lidl. Need to get done early before the heat gets too much for working - hope to get in the pool today.
(((hugs))) to all those in need YKWYA.
Take care all DG

Morning DG and all who follow,
DG - Enjoy the sunshine :T:D
Had a bit of a commotion y'day, one of our welsummers (10wks) jumped over next doors fence 4ft into the path of their springer spaniel . She is a bit subdued today but i think she'll be ok.
Today - DH is starting a new job (P/T) so we'll see how that pans out. I need to do 1 paid for load of ironing and do plenty of washing. I've also got to make an appt at the doctors about my legs.
Mr A is delivering between 9-11 so need to sprint back from the school run.
Have lovely days xx

Morning everyone.
Another glorious day here but with a hint of rain later.
Breakfast has been eaten and the DW loaded :j - there are lots of things to get through today so an early start is needed.
Car was fine yesterday, nothing needed which is a relief. I travel a lot of miles and am only happy with a mini-service every three months or so.
Fridge is still almost empty, apart from milk, and the freezer is our 'shop', I swear there is enough stuff in there for over a month of meals. Found a bag of ice cubes I bought when the freezer was new about 4 years ago!
Now I'm going to shower and get out of the house before the sun disappears for the day. Need to have a walk to energise the old brain as the next two days I'm driving between Newcastle - Leicester- Leeds - Newcastle with two meetings inbetween and I just can't slob around any more.
Got a flask of carrot and chilli soup with some ham hock for lunch with a little side pot of strawberries and blueberries for pudding. Not too keen on blueberries as they really lack any identifiable taste but they are meant to be a superfood. Strawberries this year are delicious so I will eat as many as I can before my weak allergy to them kicks in.
I hope everyone enjoys their day and good vibes to those who need them.0 -
Good Morning everyone and a beautiful morning it is as well here in north Kent .The sun is up and the River Medway is looking good from my window.
Craft class this afternoon which I enjoy as we all have a good natter whilst we make some nice cards.I have a little bit of ironing to do this morning so I'll do that to keep up to date with it.Then a rummage in the freezer to see what I can find for dinner tonight.I have quite a few tomatoes in the fridge so I may make some sort of pasta dish for a change to use them up before they go too soft.Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs >> for those who are feeling a bit down or blue.
Take care all

Morning all
Just in bed with the lappie for a quick read before I get ready for work. I hopped out earlier and put the WM on-DS left me a pile of washing before going on holiday to Cornwall yesterday. That will go on the line before I go to work.
I am going to rummage in the freezer before I go and put out two HM ready meals for tonight as DS not here.
Have a good day all.

Morning all,
Bright and sunny here this morning, first load of washing ready to go out and join the kayaking kit on the line that I hosed down last night!
Hopefully today will be a bit quieter, yesterday was so busy, I only seemed to be in the house for 2 mins at a time.
Have got some mince out of the freezer for tea and I think that I will make a big batch of chilli when I get home from work, all the family really like chilli.
Have a good day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning all,
Hopelessly out of touch at the moment, so hugs to all who are in need.
Towels out on the line in the beautiful bright sunshine. Rain stopped yesterday morning about 11ish so I got a load out and dry. Big bath sheets out early this morning. More to go out soon. Rain forecast later on today I think.
We are enjoying hg new potatoes and shallots now, which is great.
Dinner today will be penne carbonara made with egg yolks and bacon (as I was taught by DS who learnt from his Italian MIL:)) We will have hg salad leaves and maybe I'll pick the cucumber, it was looking almost ready yesterday:)
Have a good day all, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning my lovelies
Tired due to kids being up far too early. DD came to see us at 4.30 and both the kids were up and at 'em around 5.30am. I am cream crackered but got up with the kids to give H a lie in, poor bloke is the only one in his little team today and is already run ragged so needs all the sleep he can get.
Think am planning on a sewing session with my mum this morning, want to make a dress for DD although quite frankly how I feel at the moment I just ain't in the mood
Not sure what's for tea, need to check the planner.
Bargainbird - did you make the fish cakes last night? I forgot to mention after grating the spuds you need to squeeze out as much of the excess liquid as possible from them otherwise it ends up being a bit too wet and soggy. I also cook off the onion and peppers first.
JackieO - Sorry I don't share your love of Robbie. I think he's a :silenced: <enter put down of your choice>
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a lovely day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all
Gorgeous here today. Had a rubbish sleep again. We've all been awake since 4am as the dog woke us up yelping, having got his leg caught under DS bed. He's so big I had to lift the bed off him and we've all been awake since then.
Plan today to walk the dog to school and then go to the park. Need to do a shop for fruit and veg. Just read on the news about people on lower incomes experiencing more inflation. I worked out the other day that my income has only gone up by about £200 over the past 11 years and all that has gone on higher food, fuel and living costs.
Have got work tonight so will have to get my head down at some point. Off to trawl through the freezer.
Big hugs to all who need one today. Have a good day all.

Morning all, my first daily post! Everyone still sleeping, will be waking DS(7) up for school soon but enjoying a cuppa and the peace right now! keep wkaing up with the sun and not being able to sleep so no longer fighting it!
Busy day today, school run and have to deposit my takings at post office from my weight watchers meeting last night. Then shopping and investments to be made in cooking/baking hardware - yay :-) I have two new obsessions in the last few weeks - 1) wearing my ww oedometer, walking loads and going on wii step a zillion times a day to get the step count up and 2) is now my OS moneysaving and cooking. I never used to cook as I was always dissapointed with the results and that my own cooking doesn't look shop bought, now realise that is the beauty of homemade and it really does taste great, especially HM yorkshire pudsHad a long realisation that you can really cook anything, sounds silly but despite a GCSE in food tech
I'd never considered making things from scratch and I really thought it was MORE expensive!
We have just abut worked our way through the convenience food with the help of a menu planner and now everything that is left is moving from my chest freezer to my upright freezer so that my chest freezer can become my 'HM' supply and the upright is for unplanned/last minute/desperate times! Quite looking forward to doing this!
Well time to start the days routine of breakfast and all round hecticnessget to wear my summer dress for the 2nd time since I bought it in April(!):T xx
