Deviating a bit from food to petrol but I had a friend who did his shopping online and had it home delivered by Tesco. Tesco then started offering 5p a litre off petrol for customers, producing a receipt at the petrol pumps. My friend 'phoned Tesco and asked if he could have the 5p off also and was told no, it was in 'in-store' customers only.
He argued that the fact that he had been shopping online for the last 5 years and was paying the same prices as in-store customers, with the added cost of home delivery charge but they were insistent.
He switched to shopping online and home deliveries wih Asda on principle!0 -
I regularly get overcharged at Sainsburys so it pays to always check receipts.travelover0

Shop in ASDA regularly (at least weekly + online). Never had any trouble with taking things back, or any quibbles over the (very few) times I've been overcharged - and I check every time.
I did however once get charged something like 23p for a £105 home shopping delivery, and 2.76 for a box of 6 CAVA (this was instore, obviously they put in the code for a single bottle - and still charged this after checking with supervisor!) :-)What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I know it sounds petty but I find it very hard to check my ASDA receipt because it is in tiny bold print, and the abbreviations are a mystery to me. Sainsbury's receipts are much easier to read! Sounds silly but not every one has good eyesight.
I'm a regular visitor to customer services arguing the toss because I didn't get a reduction or BOGOF that was advertised. On another rant altogether, why don't Sainsburys issue their staff with calculators? I'm fed up dealing with staff who are incapable of either mental or written arithmetic. Either employ staff with adequate numeracy skills or give them the tools to do the job. Bah.0 -

Will you be going to confession this week? :0 -
asda tend to overcharge and undercharge, but have never had problems getting money back, i have noticed that there value range is rarely in stock so you end up paying more on shopping. i always check receipts on way out and they will take 20% of your shopping in vouchers.once i took some mouldy chicken back and i got money and another chiken same with milk didnt even ask for receipts.this week my barcodes alll seemed to come out as less so couldnt complain.0

Have to say I have never had any trouble with Asda. A while back a DVD player I bought became faulty after seven months, needless to say I had lost the receipt. I rang them up and explained, they just said bring it in. They exchanged it and gave me another receipt in case there was anything wrong with that one, apologising profusely.

Have Asda stopped their 'replace it free policy' then? I bought a melon and it was rotten inside, although it looked good on the outside. When I took it back the woman exchanged it and gave me a fefund.Love living in a village in the country side0

I never have problems at checkout when shopping at Asda. Sainsburys and Tesco, one or two minor glitches occassionally but nothing worth seriously shouting about and I find that the worst supermarkets for checkout problems are Morrisons and Netto.
The most common problem is that the price charged at the till is higher than the ticket price on the shelf. Sometimes, BOGOF or 3 for 2 offers in Morrisons do not come off at the till. I had two consecutive visits at Morrisons when the cashier had to change the till roll, and I once purchased a book of 2nd class stamp and got charged for the price of 1st class when the cashier (probably with poor eyesight) looked up the code on the sheet and entered the incorrect one on!0 -
bought some boys pj's in Tesco reduced tob £2.50.I checked my receipt and had been charged £3.50 so i complained at customer services on the way out....Result 1 FREE packet of pj's for my baby.
I ALWAYS CHECK!Every day above ground is a good one0
