It's on their intranet. Staff are very very unhappy as it was done to reduce the overtime bill.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I did not do a late shift even when I was finished in time, fortunately I had an understanding employer and I was not expected to work until my jury duty was finished.
But the OP won't be working the same day; the grip is that they will be on jury service monday to friday and yet are still expected to work their normal shifts on the weekend.2014 Target;

They willl potentially be working nine days in a row, or sixteen or twenty three etc.... so they need to get it sorted out before they start jury duty.
I think that some people are being very harsh and showing very little compassion, hopefully her employer is more compassionate.
As someone has said serving on a jury is work and dependeing on the case can be very hard work indeed.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I thought it was the employer who wasnt being "compassionate"
I think the OP just has to do it if they cannot be excused. We all have to do it at some point, potentially.0 -
One thing which people on here haven't pointed out, is that employers have to provide time off for jury service for workers who work Mon-Fri. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS TIME.
The OP is lucky that she will not lose any paid work during the time of her jury duty.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Indeed, I know for a fact my employer does NOT pay for people who have to go do Jury service and I doubt that what you can claim back is your full earnings/travel expenses etc.0

I've just finished jury service. You get £65 a day for loss of earnings for the first two weeks, if you are on a trial that goes over that it goes up to just over £100. If you earn more than £65 a day through your employment then you don't get the extra, if you earn less you will get whatever your usual day rate is.
You do get your travel expenses but I don't think they pay for things like car parking (not sure as I got public transport). They pay for things like bus fare, rail fare or milage if you take your own car.
My employer paid me while I was on jury service but will deduct the amount I got for loss of earnings from my next months pay so I don't get paid twice, if you know what I mean.0 -

The OP has already deferred so that isn't an option and they have also said they don't have a problem doing jury duty just not working on top.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
