Many people don't get to see their children for months on end because of their job and whilst they don't like it, they accept its a down side to having the job that they have.
And before you say it I'll say it for you - yes that doesn't mean that YOU have to like it but I hope it puts your situation into perspective.
Ah, the old 'there are children starving in Africa' gambit.0 -
I'm definitely on your side OP. People are saying seven days but even one week jury duty would mean nine days as it would be the weekend before and after. If the Jury duty was more than a week it could be much longer. Personally I would hope that your employer would realise that you will not be able to work after doing jury duty all week.
I have in the past worked 10 days in a row so I do know how exhausting it is.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

May be so but my comment, which I qualified, is a valid one.
The fact of the matter is that the OP has been selected for jury service and it just so happens that as she only works weekends, she doesn't need any time off work to fulfill this civic requirement
Well presumably court duties will finish in time for her to get home before they have their tea / go to bed etc so she will see them but not for as long as she would like.
Still can't see her problem.2014 Target;

Since when has jury duty been physical work?

I should have mentioned that I have done jury duty and found it emotionally exhausting and would not have been fit for work afterwards. I did not do a late shift even when I was finished in time, fortunately I had an understanding employer and I was not expected to work until my jury duty was finished.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Jury duty, if you end up hearing a case and if you perform your role properly, is work.0 -

it might be 9 days, but after that she'll go back to only working 2 days out of 7..0 -

I know WTD doesn't apply technically, but its still a guide and I can't see them going that far off it.
I'll need an actual written source to believe you I'm afraid.0 -
the WTD isn't compulsory, it's easy enough to opt out of it.0
