Just thought I would say that more th>n were ok with me being an undischarged bankrupt and they are continuing to let me pay monthly. I know this is a home insurance thread but thought I would mention that Hastings direct were okay about my car insurance and are letting me pay monthly.
I'm dreading renewal time though, hopefully I can continue with my present insurers till I am least discharged!

My home insurers is Saga. I have checked and double checked the wording and bankrupt isn't mentioned. We paid for the year up front last may and went BR in July.
Following on from advice in another thread I will call them tomorrow. Another sleepless night now awaits me ........0 -
Hi guyz........
Is there a list of BR friendly Home (contents) Insurers?
(my BR was mid 2008)
It's a mixed bag getting a quote:
(a) Comparison websites often ask if have ever been BR & some insurers won't quote or go high!
(b) Direct Insurance quote no mention
(c) Direct Insurance only discovered BR terms when quote came through.
I had to quiz an insurer re: an unclear question (assumption) of whether they exclude current or those discharged?0 -
I got an online quote from the co-op's own website as the comparison sites just apply the 'ever been BR' question to every quote . It was a good price
and no different to a non-BR quote. Although there was no question in any part of the online application process about BR I decided to call them to double check. The lady at the co-op said it was no problem as long as I was paying upfront and didn't want a DD.
Not paying by instalments worked out a lot cheaper anyway (I have saved up for 5 mths so I could pay it outright). However, does anyone know if paying for insurance by instalments goes any way towards re-building a credit file? Its too early for me to actually do that yet but just wondered for the future?0 -
I'm pleased you're sorted TG :beer:TheGardener wrote: »However, does anyone know if paying for insurance by instalments goes any way towards re-building a credit file? Its too early for me to actually do that yet but just wondered for the future?

Hi Meteor, there is this thread do have a read through it, some really good posts, we don't have a thread as T&C's change so often. I'm sorry your having a hard time with Insurers and checking T&C's is the only way alas!!
Best wishes
