I'm with More Than. I rang and asked them but they said it wasn't a problem. Good cover and were reasonable for my contents only policy.:o

Did they give you a specific reason why they would not insure them?

  • Yes it was due to my BR, they were wanting to know how much my br was for etc, which my dad doesnt know so they wouldnt offer him insurance, in the end he got sorted with Saga the over 50's but it was quite a bit more expensive eeek.

I insure with Co-op...they know about my BR....cannot understand what the issue is really? Oh yes.....I think some companies won't entertain BR's in the house if the BR occurred less than two years ago....
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

  • Hi all, just been through the palaver of sorting my insurance and I found that Co-operative were best for me.
Also found that Direct Line and More Than were willing to quote for me with a bankrupt person in the house but were not as cheap as Co-op. Tried Clydesdale as well as someone else in the thread mentioned but they really couldn't seem to be bothered, I asked the question before I started the quote and the town of voice and everything changed completely after that. Only my experience but thought I'd share.
Co-op said it really didn't make any difference to them so once the paperwork comes through ill go through it and check that really is the case.

hi...and thank you, for this thread.

Perhaps it is about time we had some stickies with recommendations for bankruptcy-friendly [or...BR-tolerant, which I believe to be more accurate a description?] financial services?

Such as CitySlicker has just started for home insurance?

What about motor insurance? [As an example?]

or other products subject to discrimination against BR's?

My home insurance is with Co-op...I have no idea if it is the cheapest, but it is convenient for me.

We are also with the co-op, they never asked the question but did do a search of our credit file, also bank with them so they must be aware we are br?

I found it wasnt that hard to be insured as a undischarged BR, and that the costs remained simialr to a non BR, however the ones i did find on the compare sites all wanted the payment up front for the year and would not offer the DD option.
