Claire, the top bag looks great and the apron too - looks like you are having some great ideas.

ZTD - missed your sense of humour. I can't read the daily wail as it is too bad for my blood pressure.

Yes we should go for another meet - where in the country do people want to meet up? My vote is for not London, but maybe birmingham or bristol like we did before?

I need to motivate myself to cycle across town today. I need to go to a proper jewellers as I squashed a ring at work - not a very expensive one but high sentimental vaue so I am hoping the jeweller can mend it for me. I don't want to cycle there very much, but the price of petrol is so high that I can't be lazy.

Fingers crossed that the ring can be reshaped and rebuilt without being too expensive.

Hello, I'm soooo glad you've done this!

Great news on the job Katsu!

Buffy, brilliant news on the debt freeness!!

I don't think I've really got much to update, everything's just up in the air after mum's death in April. I really need a kick up the arris to get the probate forms done. I have to say, since being told I can't buy a house with my inheritance and I just have to live off it until I qualify for income support again I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to get it sorted. Which is selfish, I know.

I have lost a lot of weight though - I've just been to Tesco and they've got half price on all women's clothing today and tomorrow so I got a couple of bits. I can't really carry on walking round with my trousers falling down anymore!

Och sorry to hear you haven't got this sorted yet Ames....praying for you hun....

But yeah I do think you should get proper advice. If I were you I'd write to the Minister for work and pensions and what not...that would be no. 1 on my to do list..:) Got to get it sorted somehow. Explain the situation to him like you've done to us here. Even the stuff about your debt being a depreciation of capital makes no sense. If you were on Incapacity Benefit it wouldn't be a problem . I know cos of 'sloth'...

    Been very busy :)

How is everyone, and is it about time we had another meet?

An MSE meet sounds fabulous. I've been making cards all am in an effort to earn money. I will post pics at some point. Where do you sell these bags? Ebay or folksy? Let me know. Have about 20 cards already made (mostly with sympathy and get well) but don't know where to sell them online. Going to a couple of shops in a few weeks in the central belt as they're christian cards. Then when the chap leaves CLC I'm going to have a word with the new manager about selling there and I spied a shop up Seaton way the other day I could possibly sell at.....any ideas welcome. I think I'm going to dedicate 2 1/2 days minimum for this project whilst on benefits depending on schedule....

PS. It's drizzle here so think I'm going to have my afternoon espresso early and head out tracting (cos I'm a christian and it's something to do :)) in a wee while. I got 1000 tracts for £10 the other week from Bournemouth and they have a sale on right now:) (and the £10 included postage :))....might pick up another 1000 or 2 when I go to Edinburgh in 2 weeks time :). e

Hello. Not much happening here. Debt busting on a back burner while we save for a deposit on a house Hubbles has recently taken a change in job. Same firm but different department. I've also had a promotion which means a significantly better salary. So all good really.

Hopefully that is just the totals and not the news that you are actually typing from St Peter's Gate!

I'm sorry to hear people's sad news. Like others Bun I did wonder when you said you were looking for a 3 bed house. Hope that goes as well as it can - at least you're both focused on the kids.

Dangers, sorry to hear your news.

Ames, I think you should set out the options to your MP and maybe whoever welfare minister is these days. It is utterly ridiculous and works in the opposite way to any logical thought process. But when I sign on I won't be declaring my work experience because technically that means I'm not available for work. The system definately works in the wrong way.
Really glad to see this back

    My news;

Have finished course - 26th May. Now waiting for marks and looking for a job. Doing a month's work placement with a housing association. Quite enjoying it but can't really get stuck in. Have been appraising some potential sites for them so have made myself useful.

Best friend gave birth last week at the age of 43 years and 10 months! Was a lot quicker than last time but sounded quite traumatic - cord round neck. Anyway Ruben came out okay and is another copy of his dad.

Applying for IS and HB this week. Not looking forward to signing on - what a depressing event that is. Nearly out of money. Another trip to dad methinks - my debts are only going in one direction at the mo. Need a job like NOW.

Talking of debts, you'll like this - not a lot, been having a LOT of problems with wireless connection (speed, connection, distance of computer from router etc.etc.) and need to keep it wireless for lodger (who is keeping a roof over both of our heads and supplementing my diet with his meat overbuying!). So today having got up, checked the lights on the router (all steady) and then had the PC unable to find the connection AGAIN I bit the bullet. I have bought a notebook for £200 on't credit card (but not on their 6 months free 29.9% APR card).

At least it means I will be able to apply for jobs tomorrow regardless of what the upstairs PC thinks it is doing.

...and bizarrely enough of course when I got home after buying the notebook the upstairs PC would perform - bizarre.

I should be named 'Debt water treader' until I get my act together.

Thanks for talking about me (in a nice way :D)

  • Hello everyone,

It's soo nice to see soo many familiar names back on daily chat.

I'm now a Mrs not a Miss!! My job's in the balance as the company I work for purchased another firm earlier this week, so will have to wait and see what happens.

I also volunteer every other Saturday afternoon in a charity shop, it's great fun and I'm giving my time to a worthy cause.

Will read through everyone's posts in a minute.

    Lots of love xx

Lovely to hear how everyone is getting on.

We've had some big downs lately but trying to focus on the positive which is that we've exchanged on a flat and should be moving in a couple of months, I'm getting married in just under a year and I love my second job, oh and we're debt free!
