self scan tills seem rather pointless, as ones i'vs seen have someone hovering about to make sure people do all their items, etc..

and 'trained' staff can get items through /bagged much quicker..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

These tills have of course made there ways into stores such as B&Q too. You should hear the moans and groans on a Wednesday, as well as others days of the week of course, don't like to think as myself being ageist.

As people have mentioned, it enables the stores to cut staffing levels. A similar thing is happening regarding petrol stations, no longer staffed at night as Card Payment pumps are in use.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Yeah got it this morning they counted it out after the shop had closed but like I pointed out to them i've used 2 lots of petrol to come back to get my change what locked up in there till. So they gave me a 20 pound voucher to use in store and a 20 petrol voucher as a sorry for the problem but its still the point they did not gave me my change last night.

So you got a £20 till voucher and a £20 petrol voucher as a way of them saying sorry and yet you still complain?

    Give me strength.

he was right to complain he should not of had to come back .The compo was nice but should never of need to be paid as they should of sorted it ,the ops time may me be worth more than that anyway ,we do not know .

If they have not got staff to deal with this at the time then the till should not be operating during these times .

Personally I think the OP has every right to complain.
Even though they have been compensation, they still had to go back to the store the next day to get their change.
This is hardly what I would call good customer service.
