I was in morrisons last night I went through the self check but when I put my 20 pound note in it locked up the screen and the till. 30 mins later after arguing with the supervisor about my change they said to come back tomorrow when the checkout would be sorted. Can they do this is it legal for them not to give you your change or not.
Please help anybody !!!!

Silly old tills, I think they should make them redundant and ask you to take your stock to a manned one!Gone ... or have I?0

I had a problem in Morrisons too a few weeks ago. Inserted £20 to pay for the item and the till froze. The assistant was helpful, opened the note compartment which contains a note counting machine and I think he could see the note inserted was a £20. He took me over to the fag counter and got the lady to give me my change.
I think you met a numpty can't be arrised assistant.The man without a signature.0 -

I said can you not just scan the items on another till and then just give me the right change but they said no cause the till needed to be counted first but thanks for your help.0 -
they should have cashed up the till straight away and checked
have you got your change now?0 -

Yeah got it this morning they counted it out after the shop had closed but like I pointed out to them i've used 2 lots of petrol to come back to get my change what locked up in there till. So they gave me a 20 pound voucher to use in store and a 20 petrol voucher as a sorry for the problem but its still the point they did not gave me my change last night.0 -
I have used self scan tills in most large reatilers and Morrisons are far and away the worst.
In Morrisions I prefer to queue at a till rather than have to await the poor "assistant" who runs around like a headless chichen

I personly think asda's are the best. But when you TRY to put fruit and veg through it never works and its so annoying when it says please put the item in the bag when its in the bag.:mad:0 -
I think pretty much the only good reasons for the self checkout at the moment are to reduce that queue if you only have a couple of items to pay for (aka getting those customers through that till point as quickly as possible=££££), and for the supermarket to reduce the total amount of hired staff+total wage to pay out. I always wondered how certain people using these automated tills without be inclined to try and cheat the system, but I think aside from your items setting alarms off when they are not scanned, some of these tills may be watching you via tillcam [tm], lol. Ive dont bother and have never tried using them due to the amount of problems I have heard about them locking up or going wrong in some way or another, and of course Im supporting real workers-use the real ones while you still can! Everything is going so far digital these days that I would not be surprised (or impressed) if every single till point was automated in 10 years time in the uk, even if they were more reliable than they are now.0

That sounds like a nice outcome, but I still think that they could have sorted you out there and then. It seems that the problems on Morrisons tills are well known. The man without a signature.0
