We're often unaware of the impact of fonts, but they're very powerful in creating a look and feel and companies spend a lot of money researching fonts when putting together their branding. I think Comic Sans is often used in the wrong context, hence the dislike it generates. Personally I'd cringe if I saw it in a work email - I'd associate it with the kind of person who has one of those signs on their desk saying 'You don't have to be mad to work here, but it helps!'. I think you'd soon tire of reading too much text in 'Impact'. I would wager that it would contribute significantly to eye strain if one was to read a large amount of it in one go.
