Because they are aiming that selected portion of their written media at that particular market?2. It is widely used out of context. It is generally classed as being a childish, amateur font. Why would a professional company or business want to appear childish?

More likely they don't have a clue who their market is and it's just a "funky" font to use. I run a marketing consultancy with my partner as a designer and you wouldn't believe how many times I've heard "oh, well it just looks cool". I don't really like comic sans either but as others have said it is very good for children and people with learning difficulties as it is easier for them to read than the fashionable fonts. When I worked in education all the learning materials for the under 11s was done in comic sans for that very reason.0
