    2. It is widely used out of context. It is generally classed as being a childish, amateur font. Why would a professional company or business want to appear childish?
    Because they are aiming that selected portion of their written media at that particular market? :)

    More likely they don't have a clue who their market is and it's just a "funky" font to use. I run a marketing consultancy with my partner as a designer and you wouldn't believe how many times I've heard "oh, well it just looks cool". ARGHHHH!

    I don't really like comic sans either but as others have said it is very good for children and people with learning difficulties as it is easier for them to read than the fashionable fonts. When I worked in education all the learning materials for the under 11s was done in comic sans for that very reason.

    May I put in a good word for Garamond...?

    For his blog (my homepage), Jasper-dog likes Times New Roman for his main posts and Arial for his "part-work serials"!

    Comic Sans MS...? Comic sans credibilite, more like. N'est pas aucun sens des convenances. A mere frippery.

    I personally like it but I dont use it for formal essays etc

    personally my favs are Verdana and tahoma
