Grrr, i hate that font with a passion!!
Especially when it's used out of context, for example in a 'Please be Quiet' sign in a library, used in conjunction with Microsoft Word 97's 'Word Art'.
Even worse when it's used as a 'cute font' in a child's poem posted on the wall in some Little Chef.
Brrrr, it makes my skin crawl!

I know, it is so annoying isn't it?If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

What does your user name mean?0

Comic Sans is used because it has been found to be easier to read by those with learning difficulties. Perhaps you should do you research before deciding to 'hate' something that has no impact on you, but massive benefits to others. I trust you don't have the same issue with braille?Gone ... or have I?0

Wow someone's in a bad mood today. What a stupid post. Why would I have a problem with braille? Idiot!
Besides, you're statement is wrong, from Wikipedia:
Microsoft designer Vincent Connare says that he began work on Comic Sans in October of 1994. Connare had already created a number of child-oriented fonts for various applications, so when he saw a beta version of Microsoft Bob that used Times New Roman in the word balloons of cartoon characters, he decided to create a new face based on the lettering style of comic books he had in his office, specifically The Dark Knight Returns (lettered by John Costanza) and Watchmen (lettered by Dave Gibbons).[2]0 -
Surely life's too short to get worked about a font? Personally I quite like it, but rarely use it because of the prejudice it engenders.0

There is no logical inconsistency between the Wikipedia item (assuming it is correct) and dmg24's comment.
Something can be created for one purpose and then found to be very useful for another.

Spot on - plus I based my statement on clinical research, not the world according to wiki.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Yep. As a teacher I have worked in schools where it is compulsory to produce all learning materials/resources/newsletters/lesson plans in Comic Sans.
I agree though, it's not an attractive font to look at. I lessened the pain by using Cooper Black for headings and Comic Sans for text.0
