Hi
Have decided to write on here about my debt as really need to get it sorted. Want to enjoy life and stop wishing time away either for pay day or kids to be in school so no childcare costs !
Well to how we got in this mess had been good with money even bought my first house with a very large deposit as a single mum worked two jobs etc
Then met hubby sold our houses to buy one which turned out to be a money pit and paid to much for it. As had equity in our houses we had a lot of cash in the bank about £50k used some for wedding also prob lived beyond our means too without really noticing. Had loads of work done to this house which prob paid over the odds for as had plenty of cash so didn't mind then things took a turn for the worse as jobs we never expected to do like rewiring etc had to be done I ended up with no job and struggled to find another as was trying for a baby was getting older and already had a son almost in his teenage years so did not want to have a large gap, once I was pregnant had to speed few £k on court battle lost and son went t live with his dad noone told me he could choose and he did as his dad told him he is a bit of a control frak my ex! Ended up increasing our mortage to clear cards. and the spiral began !
So decided it is about time to get sorted and hopefully start saving again.
Hubby started new job last month which has helped the finances
Did buy another car though last week as mine was costing him to much in fuel which has increased the debt.
Goals
1. Start being better with money
2. Stop doing so many favours for other people prob given away a fortune in unwanted furniture etc also always lending stuff but no one every returns the favour when some times all I have needed is time !!
3.Stop cooking the spreadsheets become to good at balancing never missed payments even though so much in debt we get offers all the time for 0% cards speaking of which ment to transfer tesco balance.
4. Grow my own salad etc stop wastage and plan meals better.

Hello - good luck on your debt free journey.
I'm sure someone will come along and give you some suggestions on your above finances.
The one thing I noticed was your satellite tv figure - I rang not too long ago to cancel the movies as we rarely watch them and they gave us a great deal to stay - always worth a try?!

Thanks tootoo think i need to check that as we had called them up and had it reduced not sure actual amount now DH did do and get HD which i think is a waste of £10 a month. but everytime i comment he tells me he brings in the money and he wants it.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
just been to check the bank and DH has paid more on fuel than he is telling also couple of shop trips wish he would understand we are in a real mess instead the other night he reminded me that the house owed him £500 for his laptop yes you heard correct I work from home was struggling to get in hours after looking after two wee ones all day so only chance to do work was in evening which he would moan as he wanted to play games. he has a wii and playstation 3 !!!!
Its only now that i have more time on my hands also finally getting sleep as wee ones sleep through that I am realising that he is causing a lot of the money worries spending all the time then says its my fault well i had a nice house he could have stayed in longer but he was such a wimp he struggled with travelling 3 hours aday not sure it took him that long as I could do the journey in two !!!!! then moved to be closer to his work and he gets a new job so is now travelling 2 hours aday.
sorry for rant can see why some people keep diarys !!!!£10 a day challange Feb 27/435 Jan 530/465

Hi Tebheag :hello:
as promised I am here to bore you....lol
wow! to manage to save enough for a deposit for your own house! that is amazing! we have never managed to save enough, DH is self employed and that went against us, and I was on a very low income. Managed to get higher income and then got pregnant..lol.
Never mind.
Hmm, is it worth calling your tv subscription, threatening to leave, say someone has offered cheaper deal, can they pricematch? I am going to do this with virgin, as I resent how much I pay for the package. Especially when the start up offers now are cheaper, although I am sure the package is very basic.
Do you use the printable coupon thread for helping you with your monthly shopping? Although it looks like you are doing pretty well anyway.
Have you checked out old style board? they are great over there and can help with recipes and stuff.
There is a recipe website, will see if I can find it, with ideas on low cost but healthy meals.
Do you buy meat from your local butchers? Veg from local greengrocers? I find my greengrocers will sometimes knock a bit of the price for me, as we go so regularly. Or if I go near the end of the day, pickup more, they don't want it wasted.
Butchers can help with cheap cuts of meat that can be slow cooked, still taste just as good but cheaper!0 -
by the way, this is your diary, rant away! It helps to be able to ventilate your feelings sometimes, makes you feel better and then you have a clearer head to decide on next steps.0

I did live with my mum so did all the cleaning cooking etc for my rent had been used to living on nothing as was only getting 75 a week in benefits which most of was going to pay childcare so I could go back to school so when I got a job I was saving 70% of my wages.Hi Tebheag :hello:
